My First time in Overclocking, Questions

Thread Starter
Hey guys, i been on this site for a while and i was seriously thinking about overclocking my CPU and GPU later today or very soon and i had some questions.

#1 What is the best software to overclocked a GPU?
Now, at the moment i have install: SysTool & ATI tray tools
My GPU is a Visiontek ATI Radeon 94CC 256MB 64bit DDR2 2400 HD PRO PCI card.

(Specs on card)
GPU Core Clock = 519MHZ
GPU Memory Clock = 396MHZ

Memory Clock - 800MHz effective

#2 What is the best software to overclocked a CPU?
I don't have anything install at the moment to do it, so i was curious which is the best one. My Computer Speed is:

Motherboard at 64bit width , 600MHZ Speed, Bandwidth at 800mb's, Real clock at 100mhz, effective clock speed at 100mhz, Intel III 600MHZ ) 6x100)

#3 Are they any risks , i mean is it possible i can killed my GPU and CPU if i overclocked too far/high?

NOTE: I only planned to clock from 600MHZ to 800MHZ or 900MHZ if possible and with my GPU, well maybe 900MHZ, that shouldn't be too much trouble right lol?

Thanks for all the help.

1) Rivatuner for OCing your GPU. There are plenty of guides for it as well.

2) CPU OCing is done through BIOS during bootup. Check out this Intel OCing guide.

3) With all OCing, there is a risk to damaging the components. Check the temps to make sure they are in line, check for artifacts and don't go overboard and you should be fine.

there is alot of info when it comes to o/c'ing. my suggestion to you is to o/c one component at a time. start off with your cpu, then ram, then gpu. you want to do one at a time, to make sure that the other components aren't interferring with your o/c. when your o/c'ing make sure you do stability tests, and watch your temps!

Rivatuner doesn't work with the 2400 hd pro, infact it only worked fine with my past Geforce cards and FX cards. It work perfectly wit my FX550 card.

The other information is great, and i will watch my temps and stuff. I only plan to overclocked a little bit.

Thanks!
