Thread Starter
I am impressed by the livecd. Right away it has 3d effects enabled, wireless is usable without having to install because it was Restricted driver before in 7.10.

I notice ubuntu has the same thing has MACOSX with the volume thing but a while bar

Good job ubuntu

Yep, same experience for me so far (except the desktop effects; the laptop has crappy SiS graphics). I noticed that they have a volume indicator thing too Not to mention the fact that my extra keyboard volume buttons WORK

Once again they made a near flawless distribution.

You guys should give Debian Testing a shot - it has a lot of the stuff you like about new Ubuntu releases within a week or so of it becoming stable (such as installing to Windows or the "new" volume control look), so you don't have to wait for a 6-month cycle. Everything is pushed from Unstable right into Testing as it is deemed stable - rolling release.

Hm... I've had Etch. I tried it and I liked it, but it was kind of a pain to get flash and stuff working since it uses that rebranded Firefox, "iceweasel." Other than that, it was very fast, very stable, very clean. It required a bit of extra cleaning up as a consequence, though.

When will Lenny come out of testing?

Etch was just released Stable recently by Debian standards, so I would expect not until late 2008 or 2009 at the soonest. Debian releases are always pushed back until the devs are 100% sure Stable is going to be rock-solid; despite their release dates.

The official Lenny freeze is in July of this year, and planned release as of now is September.
