They need to..remember what happened with the whole AM2+ phenoms on AM2 boards..Tom's Hardware did a test of that and almost all of the motherboards could not function with those CPUs as they were stated

wow, if their performance isn't there this time around I might just go intel since I'd have to upgrade everything anyway...

Anyone think AM3 Processors have any fighting chance?

I certainly hope so.

Competition is good, and even though us AMD "Fanboyz" are on the loosing team, We are what stands between Intel and total monopoly.

There is always a fighting chance. Intel is never always on top. They have been for the last few years, but before that AMD was and before that it was Intel and so on.

Well lets look at this with some optimistic foresight. They are starting to make some small changes here and there which is a good thing. So now its a matter of time until they catch up to pace. I for one rather have some progress than no progress at all period.

They aren't just heading, this I believe qualifies as running. Towards the end of the year I believe the "dead sprint" will apply. Right about the time I have to upgrade to play Alan Wake

SWEET!! 45nm phenom w/ AM3, 2x HD4870, DDR3, SB800, and 800 series NB, here i come!! i hope these have a higher cache than 4mb , maybe 8mb, that would be nice.

what will really help AMD get in the lead will be Intel having their factory burning down.

best way to do that would be to fly a personal airplane carrying incendiary bombs over Industry, CA and raping intel.

wait, what am i thinking?!
