OK here are the settings under BIOS (version 1303): FSB =1707
Mem timing: 5.5.5.15 / 2T @ 1066
CPU vcore=1.3255v (around there I forogot)
CPU PLL=1.60
VTT=1.40
Mem=2.10
NB=1.44
SB=1.50
1.2V HT= Auto
Bridge = Auto
CPU Internal Thermal = Disabled
Execute Disable Bit = Disabled
Virtualization = Disabled

I'm using the zalman 9700 NT atm so idle around 44,45,40,43 & under load65,65,63,63 using realtemp.

Well I can't seem to get 3.4Ghz stable unless with a good liquid cooling kit or something better to cool the cpu and chipset. The NB runs too hot still around 75-85? i think LOL so still in the process of thinking what I can do to it. I really prefer not to spend more $ on this sytem. I'm bum b/c of the cpu low multi and damn mobo with hot chipset.

oh and 3dmark06 scored 14211 3Dmarks using single 9800gtx (stock)

Cheers! & get your frags on!
I seem to have almost the same specs as you so will try out your settings when my new striker II formula arrives monday

i'm new to OC so i really hope it don't give me big problems.. my goal is 3.2Ghz

Awesome thread!

I just got a Q9300 and I've done some testing over the last week and here's as far as I've taken it to so far.

My VID is 1.125.

3Ghz @ 1.032v being cooled with a Scythe Ninja 2 w/ bolt-thru kit. Running Prime95 showed a max of 51C on all 4 cores, but eventually settled around 48C using RealTemp.

The rest of the computer is:

-Asus P5Q-E
-2 x1GB Kingston DDR2 800Mhz (1:1) 4-4-4-12
-8800GT SSC

Does this seem decent? I thought it was cool that I could run so few volts for an overclock of 500mhz! Just running stock was keeping the voltage at 1.1x volts.

Does this seem decent? Should I try for more?? For the most part, I'm fine with 3Ghz. I am somewhat curious to see what this will do considering that it's handling 3Ghz with ease.

Hello everyone, I'm new to overclocking and I thought this is a great place to learn with my Q9300. Thanks to the creator of this thread

I have a few questions and I would really appreciate if you could help me out on these.

I'm running my Q9300 @ 2.8Ghz, vcore 1.2 using the Intel stock cooler that came when I purchased the CPU. A bit scared to push it higher because when I ran Prime96 v25.7 the temp I'm getting is around 75-79C (I stopped running after 30 mins. because of the high temp). Idle load is 40-45C.
Are these temps still safe for the Q9300?

Is it alright to use stock cooling since I'm not using my PC under full load always and I have C1E and EIST enabled? I'm planning to get a Xigmatek Red Scorpion cooler but I'm afraid it won't fit in my Coolermaster Elite 333 casing.

If you have any suggestions please do so and I will be very grateful for any advice.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, managed to install a Xigmatek Dark Knight edition. Overclocked it to 2.8 ghz and and my temps are running good, just noticed that the differences of the 4 cores are far apart 37/55/45/47 normal load and 52/63/57/55 full load using Prime95. Is this ok?

Thanks for the help!

Have you tried to run the voltage any lower?

Hello, just want to ask if you could recommend any settings for a Q9300 overclock? I;m currently running now at 2.8G (374 x 7.5), DDR2 800 RAM overclocked to 448 MHz @1.92.
VCore is 1.235. Did a Prime95 blend but PC shutsdown less than 2 hours of testing. Did small FTPs and managed to go beyond 2 hours without the PC shutting down but there was an error with one of the cores.

Would really appreciate if you could give me some recommendation. I'm planning to reach at least 3.0. Is it doable?

Thanks for your help!
