Also thats a really interesting read, ive done some reading to over at xtremesystems about it as well interesting stuff.
I love XS for the "true to the name" style they bring. The only thing is, most of the XS guys that are doing the hardcore have the means to buy a dozen cpu's and gpu's.
I work hard for the $ i piss away on this box. My last adventure at extremeness was a volt mod to my 8800GT, I figured it was about time to upgrade so I would go ahead and try to squeeze what i could out of them for the last few weeks.
Followed the guides, but must have missed something cause when I hit the power button my 8800 went bye bye.... I sold the second one I didnt fry for 80$, would have been alot more useful to get 160 for the both and put towards a new one..
Main reason I dont press the limits, I like the fact that I upgrade often enough that my old parts are still valuable enough to take an edge off of the new ones... You get a rep for pushing 1.4 into a 45nm cpu and not many will be gung ho about buying it, and its a nice enough chip that it will still be worth 150 in a year from now if taken care of....
just some food for thought... I have a PD i did alot of testing on once i upgraded to C2D, was alot of fun running that bad boy at 4.0 for a while
