Locks up damn near immediately after a blend test. My guess (not really a guess at this point) is that my NB is crapping the bed running a 1900fsb with 1100mhz ram.
My question: does running "unlinked" ram have any negative effects on performance other than the changed clock speeds? I am considering running sub 900mhz with 4-4-4-12.
Also, does increasing vdimm help with tight timings? My spd for these reapers lists 800mhz @ 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8v. I have run 2.35v through these reapers with pretty cool temps to the touch.
Or should I just stay with boring old 950mhz 5-5-5-15? Its sad I bought ddr2 1066 and this beautiful board just let me down.
Yes, vdimm can sometimes help with tighter timiings. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the Reapers are ProMOS chips and take voltage very well, but doesn't give much gain in performance. Might have to increase your SB. You are really pushing the boards limit and you might have to give voltage in other areas. You are still only running 2 sticks so you should have alittle head room if your RAM is not holding you back.
You can't trust memtest to tell you 100% that your ram OC is OK. The pair of Tracers I have in now I can boot and pass memtest at cas 4, 1150Mhz,2.2v but can't even boot Windows. Do some Orthos Large FFT or OCCT large data set, to backup stabilty for your ram.
