No, GTLs are not dangerous. You will not hurt your chip even if the GTL are set to their max of +160mv. They are only minor tweaks to the power signal being deliveied to the CPU.

EDIT:so i read your guide and that evga one

im a bit confused though

so what does the GTL basiclly do?

well actually when i saw ur example..i kinda got the idea

thank god it wont blow up my CPU ,i thought GTL was the setting that can blow up or kill your cpu lol

After you run thru the GTLs try lowering vFSB first. Most likely the vcore will not change.

Here's the link I broke eariler. http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ml#post6898193
So I noticed that you said you use IBT instead of Prime95... so IBT stresses the CPU more, and in a lot less time? How how long should I use IBT, and what intensity should I run it at? Also, does IBT tell you which core fails, like Prime95 does?

hey,to help a lil,i heard people do 25 runs of them,so i would suggest doing 25 runs...
and yes thats what people say,IBT is better than Prime95 and "saves" time

and no they dont tell you what cores, unfortunately

standard inensitiy is good, thats what i always use

So without knowing which core failed... how are you supposed to know which GTL lane to modify?

You really can't rely on P95 telling you which core is failing. Your error could actually be on the cache level and not one particular core.

This is why you start with 100% stable settings. You'll know which lane is failing because you'll only be adjusting one lane at a time. Each lane is not for each core.

Here are your lane assignments for GTL

FOR QUAD CORES:
Lane 0 is for Core 0,1 Data Bus (die 0)
Lane 1 is for Core 2,3 Data Bus (die 1)
Lane 2 is for Core 0,1 Address Bus (die 0)
Lane 3 is for Core 2,3 Address Bus (die 1)

FOR DUAL CORES:
Lane 0 is for Core 0,1 Data Bus (die 0)
Lane 1 is for Core 0,1 Address Bus (die 0)

so are we suppose to adjust both the Data and the Address Bus ones?

Yes, but one lane at a time.

alright gotcha

well im at 4.0Ghz right now and right now no,Kernel.DLL errors came up(this happens when my OC isnt stable,it makes the OS unstable too sometimes) so ima stable test it and use my other computer to be on here

uhh PizzaMan?Doesnt GTL adjusting effect Temp readings?

cuz my readings im sure are way off

some are idling at 20-30c...which is impossible for 4.0Ghz unless u have watercooling

well everest reads it right...not coretemp
