Hey guys, im trying to get some more juice out of my machine.(Game I play is CPU intensive.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @2.66mhz
EVGA nvidia 750i FTW (of course)
Corsair Dominator 8gb 1066mhz

I set the ram to 5 5 5 15 2t timing at 1066 and ran Prime95 for over an hour with no problems.

I then started increasing the FSB and am at 3200MHz, Core voltage at 1.37V.
EDIT:

FSB Memory Clock Mode - unlinked
CPU Core - 1.40625 (Shows 1.37v in CPUz)
CPU FSB - 1.20V (Afraid to jump that up, all additional V are red?)
Memory - 2.0V
nForce SPP -Auto (1.4)
NF200VL - Auto 1.2

Everytime I run Prime95 I get this error:
"FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4"
From what I read thats usualy caused by not enough V with the core. I'm concerned with going over 1.37. Any suggestions what might be causing the error if its not the voltage?

You should maybe unlink the ram or set it lower since when you overclock the CPU you also overclock the ram which could cause problems. At least that's what I think I remember Been a while since I had my 750i FTW and my memory sucks..

You should be able to hit higher clocks with that vcore :l

Updated original post with current V's.

I hate my memory (not ram)

Erm, have you tried with only 4gb of ram installed? Or 1.5v SPP with the 8gb?

Also, what bios are you using? Myself and most other had most luck with SZ17..

Have not tried with less RAM, will try with the 1.5v SPP. I never flashed the BIOS, so im assuming im using the previous version. Actualy, I just realize there was a BIOS update for it when I started looking into overclocking. Unfortunately I dont have any blank CD's atm and I cant find a Thumb drive
post #2747 of 2885
I just had a look if I could a find the SZ17, EVGA changed their forums not so long back though so it seems to be lost, you may just have to use the latest when you get some blank cds, I had it saved until recently too D;

Don't be afraid to bump the FSB up a notch or two as well btw.
The 1.5 V SPP caused a blue screen loading up windows. Is bumping up the FSB (Even though it's "Red" in the BIOS) to about 1.4-.5 ok? I'm going to try and slowly mimic one of the setups on the original page of this thread.

EDIT: Prime95 seems to be running smoothly now at 3ghz 1.35v in bios (1.304v in CPUz, why is there that much of a difference? or is that normal)

been a while,

still using my 750i ftw.. haven't gamed as much as I used to so no need to upgrade.. thought I would refer to this thread again as I had my original overclock stable for 2 years but have had some pc freezes lately.. last thing I did was replace the ram with some new ones (gskill pc2-8500 1066) and performance has increased from the 800 mhzs (obviously) but windows 7 doesn't seem to like it.. memtest ran fine, prime ran fine, but games freeze.. so I am going to look into something software related.

oh and about the SZ17 bios (still using it, should I update to SZ1I?), its still on the EVGA ftp, you just need to know where to look

here you go!

Since you took your ram from 800mhz to 1066mhz you should raise your SPP voltage some. Make sure you set your ram timings and voltage to manufacturer specs manually too.

Do not flash your bios if your not having video corruption, or, if your not haing problems getting 8 gigs of ram stable. You don't seem to have either of those problems so don't bother. The SZ17 bios works great.
