Ahhh, I already have the SPP at 1.55 as can be seen from my bios settings above, but it seems anything over 3.825 and i get unstable or no boot.. Considering my temps are pretty good i think i could be able to push her further, or is the 8GB just causing it to fail.
If you think it's the memory holding you back, try removing 2 sticks and see how it goes.

I dunno if the memory is holding me back or not.. I mean im running it at 1000mhz, which isnt suppose to be possible...

I think 3.8 may be the ceiling with 8gb.. I would love 4.0 but honestly besides a mental Win, there is no difference.
The difference between 3.8 and 4.0GHz is just as negligible as the difference between 800MHz and 1000MHz RAM. If it's stable, just leave it alone and be glad you don't have the dreaded video corruption bug.

Hey all. I'd like to start off by saying what an awesome forum! The information has been invaluable and I hope if I catch the OC bug that I'll be able to make some helpful contributions.

Man did I have my reading cut out for me when I decided I wanted to try OC'ing my setup! Well... Picked up my first cpu cooler last night and got to it! (been putting my system together for a year + and it's about time!)

Attempt #1 netted me:

E8400 @ 4050mhz

vcore: 1.325v(bios), 1.304v(cpuz @ idle), 1.288v
spp: 1.45v
nf200: 1.35v

Ran OCCT until I woke up (about 6 hours)
Ran Prime95 about 2 hours... I know I should have reversed those tests. ***edit*** Ran for 8 hours and stable.

So far I'm very happy with the results! Avg load temps of 47-48c with a couple of spikes to 51c. Idle sits at 30c.

Can't help but feel like there's a ton of room left... any thoughts?

Every single time I want to go over 3.875 Ghz on my E 8400 I have to take down the RAM speed from 1066 to 800 MHz otherwise it just freezes during OCCT

Here are my saved profiles That are Stable

#1 E8400 @ 4.000 Ghz
2x 2GB DDR 2 @ 800 MHz
Occt stable

#2 E8400 @ 3.825 Ghz
2x 2GB DDR 2 @ 1066 MHz
Occt stable

I know a lot of you guys say that going from 3.8 to 4.0 is not a big difference well it may not be but Intel burn test run at x5 / high shows difference in speed GFlops from 17 GF/s to 24 GF/s for me that faster.

This board doesnt like high FSB and high clocked ram...

Do some benching at both settings, whichever is fast stick with..

I'd say 4.0 with ram at 800 and tighten up you cas latency

Well it does not Like high FSB for sure I'm at work now so I may guess but my ram is 5-5-5-15 Corsair again it supposed to run at 1066 but because of CPU OC i have to stay at 800 I'm not really good with Ram OC is there anything i can do to cas latency ?

Try 4-4-4-15 or even 4-4-4-12, it should do it.

Just be sure to test it with memtest or something to stress the ram after you make the changes..

But 800MHz @ 4-4-4-15 vs 1066MHz @ 5-5-5-15 isnt going to be a noticeable difference except in a few benchmarks. And the added 150MHz of cpu speed is going to make up for that.
