EVGA 750i FTW Overclock Thread - Page 287

I did flash bios to sz1h and after blend test There is no way for me to go over 4 ghz on CPU. I try several voltage it would always freeze. The good thing is that the H bios let me get back to my old oc which is 3.82 ghz with ram at 1050 MHz with 570 gtx at 850 MHz and 1.05 v. Blend overnight test stable. My NB fan is already recycled I hope. I know I could put it down uP to 30% but the noise was to much for me. I got good cooling I moded my case and my NB temp doesn't go over 57c so far in this crazy Chicago weather.

try setting your ram to 800mhz and then oc the cpu, once you get the cpu stable try pushing the mem up again...

the 750i should be good for at least 450 FSB (1900 QDR) on a dual core..

But it doesnt like High clocked ram (over 1000MHz) and high FSB for some reason..

450FSB is 1800QDR.

Also, 450FSB is the highest possible amount to run unlinked ram. It has something to do with the 750i's strap. The GTLref's have to be adjusted though for it to work.

That's not quite right.
It's 450MHz bus and 1800MHz FSB.

bump, realized I still have my 750i FTW Q6600 combo

Nope, this is not true. You can run the 750i unlinked to it's limit. If you can't get above 1800QDR, you need better NB cooling and more NB voltage. 1.55v really is kind of crap limitation for the 750i/780i, they can easily handle more with better cooling. I've owned a bunch of 750i and 780i boards.

Here's some proof it can be done.

well your right. I can boot in at 4320mhz and 1120mhz on the ram and play games and all but its not 10hr prime 95 stable. thats what I'm talking about. being stable. needs more than 1.55v. After 450fsb(1800qdr), if your running unlinked, the ram latency and bandwidth crap out anyway.

Edit: Thats a 480fsb with a 7:6 ratio. I've been up too long.

just updated my bios to E175_SZ1I and now its impossible to get my old overclock back. What was considered the best overclocking bios for this board. Also i have no idea what the old bios was, whatever evga gave me when they rma'd it at the beginning of the semester.

IIRC SZ17 was the best for me and lots of others
post #2870 of 2885
Yup, SZ17 was the best for me as well, most stable outside of the video corruption bug (which they NEVER fixed).

You should be able to look on your BIOS chip on the motherboard. Mine had a little sticker on there with the BIOS version.
