does tubing size make a big difference in temps?

How much of a difference would I see if I used 7/16" ID instead of 1/2" on 1/2" barbs?

I have been using 1/2" ID for 2 years and switching to 7/16" masterkleer when the shipping arrives. I am guessing that i won't see any difference. Maybe a degree or two at load.

its more than just the tubing size. you have to consider the complete cooling loop and how fast its moving water through the radiator. also, how efficient is the radiator. make sure you match your components carefully and consider the whole loop.

i used to use 1/2 tube. but changed a while back. yeah temps changed but only 1 or 2c
it also looks less cluttered in my case now.
the other thing i like about useing a smaller tube is that it fits the barbs better
(dunk your end of tube on warm water to loosen it up to fit over the barb, when it cools down it shrinks to fit better).
last of all the ID on my tubing is the same ID as on my barbs

Cathar did these tests a while back showing it doesn't make much difference at all..The impact of tubing sizes-Cathar..I'd still go for 7/16" on 1/2" barbs...

Are you saying that youre using 7/16" barbs?

^^^A lot of guys think using the 7/16" ID tubing will help your flow with 1/2" OD barbs, less turbulence at the barb union that way...

I'm using 3/8" ID tubing with great control over the temps.

IDK mentioned flow and flow restrictions along with cooling loop components like the radiator, pump and cold-blocks. All of these have an effect for reducing temps.

A WC guru knows that getting a balanced cooling loop to control the temps under various conditions with the smallest diameter tubing allowed has achieved more than the "Joe" running with the pack using overkill 1/2" ID tubing and an overkill pump pushing beyond the restrictions.

7/16" ID tubing is an unusual size in the WCing realm for hardware components. I'm not saying you can't find hardware, but the selection is limited.
