Yeah just noticed that, hope he's overclocked by a far amount.

All HIGH is still very demanding to be honest, especially at higher resolutions. Personally, i feel that to play Crysis smoothly through out SLI of some form is required.

No you can´t, you need at least an avg of 25 fps (yes I know it´s low but it´s feels playable thou) and you don´t get an avg of 25 fps with 9800GTX and very high, you probably don´t get it at high either. Sorry

Read this article at Hardocp about 9800GTX.

IMO, you need a minimum of 25FPS. Otherwise, you WILL see annoying stutters when it drops below. To make it worse, these stutters are even more annoying because they tend to happen in graphically intense scenes like firefights.

And FYI, if you see any benchmark comparisons (like the one above), you'll notice that the 8800GTS G92 and 9800GTX perform almost exactly the same. This is because they are practically the same card, with identical specs (save for slight clock frequency differences). They've been proven to perform within 5% of each other, on average. So if you're considering the 9800GTX, save yourself ~75 bucks and grab an 8800GTS 512MB.

There is no single GPU card I know of that will play Crysis above 25FPS minimum at the highest settings (very high) @ 1680x1050. To play it without stutters, you'll simply have to turn the detail down.

I had previously played crysis on all medium @ 1680x1050 with my G80 GTS, now with SLI 8800GT's I tried it on all high but it just didn't look much better to me than medium did and the frames were less. I put it back on all medium with the SLI and was getting really good frames and it played good, and by that I mean 50-70fps. Btw this is with 169.21, I guess I should try 169.44 for crysis.

if you check out my pc, i am running an overclocked 9800 gtx with a 19' 1280×1024 lcd. i have crysis at all high settings (not Very high) w/ 4xAA and plays very smooth. i tried it with all very high settings and it was unplayable. i don't know the true fps but i would guess in the neighborhood of 15. also i played it on a 19 widescreen (i think 1680x1050) at work with my pc, no overclocked gpu and still all settings were at high w/o aa and it ran beautifully. its much more fluid with the overclocking though when stuff starts to get crazy. i hope my rambling helps

i doubt the 19" is 1680x1050. I would think probably like 1440x900 maybe.

nvidia dropped driver support for the 8000 series. It may be something worth considering when deciding between a 8800GTS 512 and 9800GTX.
