Can I play crysis in highest settings with 9800 GTX? - Page 3

hmm... must've been a rumor going around then. sorry for the misinformation. apparently one of nvidia's new drivers didn't support the 8000 series and people must've jumped to conclusions about nvidia dropping driver support. My bad.

bahh.. i am stupid. I was actually pretty disappointed at nvidia. I must have dreamt it or been delusional while on OCN or something.

The nVidia 174.x WHQL drivers were designed specifically for the 9800 series cards (along with a few other things), whereas the nVidia 169.x are the latest WHQL drivers for the 6, 7, and 8 series. But this was to allow games/apps to function properly with the new series. That doesn't equate to any previous series card's support being dropped by any means.

No, you can't play at 1680x1050 on Very high. Or High. To be decently fluid you want about 40fps for Crysis. With the 9800GTX I'd imagine you could get away with mostly medium, and maybe a few high settings.

It actually is 1680x1050. i am on in now, i just checked. it might be a 20". i don't really know. it was a replacement for a 19" CRT that Dell sent so i just presumed it was 19".

i play it on High and it is very fluid. it some times slows down, but not often to be concerned.
