Windows 7 Vienna this summer?

Thread Starter
I was eating lunch with my brother-in-law yesterday afternoon and we were talking computers. And he asked me if I was going with XP or Vista for my new build. I told him Vista for really no good reason other than that I shouldn't have any problems with Vista since I am using new hardware and that support for xp will be dying soon. My brother-in-law is the head networking/computer whatever administrator at a local school district and he was telling me that Windows 7 is going to launch at the end of the summer. The last date that I had heard was 2010 and thought it was really odd for it to be moved up this quickly. He said he had just purchased 180 Vista licenses for the school district and was kinda annoyed that Vienna was going to release this summer. I did a search on google and I could find no evidence to support his claim but he's not the kind of person to make up this kind of stuff. Anyone have any input on this?

He has been mislead, Have you EVER known microsoft to be AHEAD of schedule.
Not to say he's gullible/dumb or anything, but there is no way it will be out 2 years ahead of schedule. A month or two? Sure. But I VERY HIGHLY DOUBT 2 years ahead of schedule.

Yeah when he told me the end of this summer I was like "no way!" But we were with a bunch of other people and he was sitting across the table and so I didn't continue the conversation.

Barely next year.
Q4 2009 could be it if everything goes well, but i remember their original target for public was 2010 Jan.
Hope everything goes well.

Hopefully it will have something revolutionary, like Pink screen of death (PSOD). That would be something.
