from 2.4 to 3.0

hi all
am new to overclocking i overclocked the q6600 to 3.0 stock volts
but in cpuiz the speed changes between 2.4 and 3.0 it doesn't stay on 3.0
i tried another everest ultimate it is the same thing when idle the speed is 2.4 and it changes when i loud something on the cpu, is that normal when overclocking

You have C1E thermal throttling enabled on your motherboard, and Intel Speedstep Go into your BIOS settings and disable them if you don't want it to do this. I believe you mean GHZ, not volts..if you're running it at 3 volts, I'd imagine the fire that would be burning should be warming you right now. I hope this helps!

It depends, a lot of us prefer to have it off, because it's a nuisanse to have the computer clock constantly changing. You can leave it on, it just means less heat when you're not using the power. I prefer to leave the things off because I like staying at my true speeds 24/7

I say keep it on...

If the CPU is getting used at all (even dragging a window quickly around), it will boost up to full speed.

The only thing you'll ever notice is a slightly lower power bill...
