Overclock ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M????

Thread Starter
I have a Compaq R4000 with a 128MB ATI Radeon® XPRESS 200M GPU. It runs fine but i want to tweek it so it plays Battlefield2. It plays it now, but kinda slow when things get hairy. So far every ATI over clock tool i try either doesn't work, or blue screens my OS. I'll be damned if my P4 2.4 with a gig of ram and a Geforce 4 TI4200 with 64 megs of ram, out performs my AMD 4000+ with 2 gigs of ram and a 128 meg pci xpress video card, IDC if it is integrated. It should smoke my TI4200.

Please help.

thanks.

PS that TI 4200 also smokes fx5500's In 3dmark03 No clocking. Down side is no vertex and pixel shading. whoopty-doo-dah

I knew this was a tough one. I think you can't OC laptops/integrated GPUs. we'll see what you OC's have to say.

Any 9XXX series card has shader and vertex support and should be able to handle BF2. Id go for one of those.
Very nice!

Its a laptop. so any 9000 series card is not an option.
And the 200m does play Battlefield2. i just want it to play it faster when there is a lot of stuff going on. It drops below 10fps when there are intense battles.

This is an Integrated GPU. Kinda like the iNTEL Extreme, except it has 128meg dedicated ram. No shared. I mean i can set it to share, but it also has dedicated Vram as well.

Wow thats low. Have you tried the Omega Drivers or ATI Tool? Those are the best ones you can get to OC an ATI card.

ATI tool says i have no ATI card installed.
rad over clocker blue screens.
ATI has a verification tool. it also says i do not have anything installed.

Of course i do.

The thing is, this is an integrated GPU,. not a "card"

And its Compaqs ATI drivers at work here, not catalyst drivers.

If the card is not intergrated into the mobo you may be able to replace it with a better one like on this Dell laptop here.
