I continue here in this thread instead of ASUS P5N-E SLI 650i Thread, it´s more appropriate I think.

My first ram was OCZ Titanium Alpha VX2 1000@4-4-4-14 and I could reach 1120 4-4-4-12 2T Trc18@2,30, 1150 with 5-5-5-15 2T Trc22 on my Striker Extreme with BIOS 1102.

It was okey I thought but why buy 800 ,1000 or 1066 and try OC as high as possible and get disappointed because I didn´t reach high enough.

So I bought my Kingston Hyper X 1200 5-5-5-15 and then I know they do 1200 5-5-5-15, I tried to OC them but I got only 1250, not much so I decided
to run 1200 plain and simple because it match well with FSB 400 and 450. They ran just fine at 1200 5-5-5-15 2T Trc22 on my Striker Extreme with my E6600 at 450 8 3,6.

But know when I have met you I got kind of urge to see if I´m as good OC as you, so what the heck I think I buy the same kind of Kingston that you have.

I can get it from a shop nearby for 200$, a bit expensive, I saw the same set on Newegg for ~120$ so mayby I order it from Newegg, but then I got tax and custom fee to consider and it takes probably a month to get to Sweden.

Just checking, is this the Kingston part# KHX8500D2K4/4G that you use?

I know your timing as far as 4-5-5-15 PL4 moderate 2,14v, but how about the rest?

What BIOS version?

Do you run XP 32 or 64?

I got 4 sticks of Elpida E5108AJBG-8E-E in my hand now, I just wait for my Nexus Heat Pipe Memory Cooler to arrive so I can put those nice rams into my Rampage Rig and see how they works.

Schweet. I can't wait. I've only seen 3 other reviews of these besides what's on Newegg, none of which were in English- Japanese, Sweedish, and Russian I think. The translations were a bit hard to read (except Japanese, which I speak). All of the reviews were a bit older, and 2 of them were of engineering samples, so they could have been 6E(667MHz) or 8E(800MHz) grade. Consensus was these clock really well with minimal voltage.

Just be aware you may need to advance DRAM SKEW in BIOS to get above 1128MHz. OCZ reccomends advancng 300ps for their 1150 and 1200MHz kits.

Yup read them both. I've found that OCZ has a great tech/customer support system. If you dig up posts by Tony (OCZ'z tech guru) at OCZ forums or at Extreme Systems you will find a ton of helpful info on OCZ RAM in particular, and can generalize to other brands what settings may be valid.

You should be able to hit those settings around 1.94-2.0Vdimm and 1.49-1.55VNB.

I'd clock those a bit and see if you like them before the speaders come off. Personally I was only after the stock settings, so once I found that I could do 1066 at CAS4 at low voltage the spreaders came off of mine. TBH my sticks ran fairly cool with the stock spreaders even at 2.19V cooler than my Ballistix D9GMH 2x1 kit running 2.04V. Heat spreader replacement on these was probably unnecesary and overkill in hind sight. Still better safe than sorry, this is OCN afterall where overkill isn't enough

Looking at my box with an IR camera shows my RAM(after spreader replacement) to be running 20-25C cooler than my NB, which runs in the 55-60C range (temperatures on my IR are relative and not absolute- you need a known reference temp in the shot). This puts my RAM running 30-40C- less than half of the rated 85/95C max and not much above ambients (about 25C/70F).

They sure runs cool @ 1066 with 1,88Vdimm and that´s really good for 4Gb and that´s good enough for me, I gonna try to reach 1150 - 1200 if I can get reasonably volt.

Those Nexus put down my temp on my HyperX 1200@2,30Vdimm really good so I gonna switch my heatspreders and then they gonna run even cooler and they gonna last for a lifetime if I run 1066@1,88Vdimm.

I tried similar settings w/o the DRAM SKEW advance and was able to boot windows, but would crash just afer login. I was using 2.19Vdimm 1.63VNB 5-5-5-15 tRFC40, DRAM static disabled, Clocktwister and PLs on auto. I should probably try the DRAM advance and raise my tRFC>60, but feel pretty happy @1128MHz CAS4 PL6 for a 24/7 setup.

I really think that 1200MHz is there with tweaking, but it's probabply going to be a battle with the MCH once you start to get near 1150MHz. I'm almost positive that if I ran just 2 sticks 1200MHz would not be too hard to get. Should probably try that too one day......

Okey Ravin, my Nexus heatspreaders are on those Kingston and I have done some testing, as you noticed the other day in this "P35 & X38 + Crucial Ballistix/Ballistix Tracer = Not compatible" thread.

I started with 400 9 3,6 1066 5-5-5-15 (tRFC auto (42)) DRAM Static Disabled Clock Twister Stronger PL6, with as low volt as possible on NB and ram and this is what I got, with NBv 1,31 and DRAMv 1,86 I ran 10 passes Memtest86+ and then HCI design Memtest up to 500% and finally Prime95 (Blend) and ATITools view3D for 4 hours and it was stable.

But when I ran Crysis Benchmark Tool Harbor at 1600x1200 High Q 0xAA 50 loop and it crashed so I had to bring NBv to 1,41 and DRAMv to 1,90 then it was stable, after that I played some GRAW2 which I have noticed to be a good OC tester because of that sensitive Physic (if not stable, crash) and it all went fine.

Over to 450 8 3,6 1128 4-5-5-15 (tRFC auto (42)) DRAM Static Disabled Clock Twister Moderate PL6, I ran 10 passes Memtest86+ and then HCI design Memtest up to 500% and finally Prime95 (Blend) and ATITools view3D for 4 hours and it was stable with NBv 1,31 and DRAMv 2,12.

So far I must say these Kingston are very good, run 1128 4-5-5-15@2,12 are really good and 1066 5-5-5-15@1,90 isn´t bad either.

Now I am at 1150 and testing at FSB 432 and 480, it seems that I can´t get lower DRAMv then 2,20 and I have to use DRAM SKEW advance 300ps, do you think that I have to loosen that tRFC?

I be back when I got those Elpida stable at 1150.

PS. How much volt do you think those Elpida can take?

Then I brought that E8400 up to 450 9 4,05 and mem to 1128 4-5-5-15 and ran Crysis Benchmark Tool Harbor at 1600x1200 High Q 0xAA 99 loop and it was rock solid stable.

So far I must say these Kingston are very good, run 1128 4-5-5-15@2,12 are really good and 1066 5-5-5-15@1,90 isn´t bad either.

Now I am at 1150 and testing at FSB 432 and 480, it seems that I can´t get lower DRAMv then 2,20 and I have to use DRAM SKEW advance 300ps, do you think that I have to loosen that tRFC?

I be back when I got those Elpida stable at 1150.

PS. How much volt do you think those Elpida can take?

Those are some pretty good results. I've noted the same thing- most of my early stability issues were cleared up with more VNB. Possibly it's time for you to loosen up tRFC as well, 42 is pretty tight at such a high DDR. Maybe jump to around tck=60-90 range for your tRFC which should translate to about the minimum ns specified for tRFC on these ICs. I've got mine set to 40-45 ATM for 1128, but definitely had to loosen it up to load Winblows at any higher DDR.

1150-1200 was about the point where I stopped trying to push farther myself, I just can't afford new memory ATM if I blew these. Just wanted to stay within the "spec" 2.20V. Ok...well I did push 2.30V to try for 1200MHz.....which lasted only a few boot cycles.

As for how much these ICs can take, Elpida lists the max instantaneous as 2.30V, absolute max before damage as 2.35V. Watch your DRAMREF voltage- it should stay within -1.15V of VDIMM and should not exceed 1.20-1.25V. I'd say that with good cooling those will hold true, maybe not 24/7 but at least for some benchmark/stability check runs. You can check in with some of the guys over at XS- I've seen some of those crazy guys push 2.5-2.7V on thier DIMMs 24/7.
