8800GT FAN not kicking in at all

This started about a week ago with my Original card got it replaced and now the replacement one is doing the same thing... NO fan kicking in to 100% like its suppose to when going over 80C.

I originally had this problem like i said a week ago and riva tuner had lost the files of the profile I had... these last two days Ive used nvflash to check to see if i could read the Bios off the card and I couldn't.. nvflash 5.13 tells me nvidia adapter not found... Also reinstalled XP pro and still the same thing, then I used killdisk just to make sure there weren't any deeply seeded virus...

I have come to believe that the MOBO is at fault here... Yes I have oced both cards and the mobo... the replacement card was working just fine until I oced it. did take it over 750 on the core and in the ati tool it started to artie so I bumped it down to the 740 and ran it for 25 min never got hotter than 65C.. I stopped it and a little while after that i was having problems rivetuner said currupt fan files and then the core and mem wouldn't show up in ati tool.

Im at wits end now any suggestions would be nice..

Scarfaceor tks for the reply.. The fan isn't kicking in at 81C+ that is the problem here and no the fan isn't hitting anything... My card is a BFG, as stated in my specs..

Update just got off the phone with DFI and they are willing to rma it but I want to make sure that it is the board and not the gfx... think im going to see if I can put the vmod onto the card...

BTW does anyone know were I can get the v62 Bios for the BFG, Ive tried MVKtech but they don't seem to have one..

tks again..

I had a problem like this as well (fan just never went faster then 60%, unless manually set to 100%) on some old drivers, think it was some 169.x version. Rivatuner or other drivers could fix that tho (or adding watercooling like I did, hehe).

Nice spend more money on the after market cooling than what you did on the hole card. Well I am running the 169.21 and haven't had any troubles until now, and that has been about 6 months.. Ill look into this though... Tks for the heads up...

Woot found that you have to use a more recent ver. of nvflash to do this so I'm not sure yet where the problem lies because I'm still having the fan problem of it not reeving up when it is suppose to... I'm using ver 5.63 if you want to know... I was able to read and save the bios so at least I know the bios was still there..
