Broken p5-k Deluxe

Thread Starter
Ok, so I bought an Open Box p5k deluxe off newegg when I upgraded to my quad core. I love this board, but it didn't come with anything so I was a little disappointed. I know that open box stuff can be hit or miss, so I realized this could happen. My board, however, is broken. Kind of. I have a USB header that does not work with any device. My plan is to RMA the board this summer to get that fixed, but I wonder. Do you think ASUS will also include the stuff that was supposed to come with my motherboard? I'd really like to at least get an IO shield. What do you guys think? Maybe I'll get these little extras? If it's for sure that they won't send me anything I think I'll just hang on to the board, sending it away for perhaps a month for one USB header doesn't sound worth it to me.

unlikely unless they gave you a new board. The RMA wouldn't come with accessories, and you can't buy the P5K Deluxe I/O panel because they don't make them yet. I found that out after being told that the P5K panel WAS the P5K deluxe panel, only to have to return it when they were wrong.

I agree. Doing an RMA they generally say to send back only the motherboard pin protector that came with it, as that is the only thing you will get back. Unless they send you back a new, retail board new in box, which is highly unlikely, you will get back only the motherboard. Have you checked ebay for accessories like that?

A bit expensive, but if you really want one...

Oh and one word of advice. If you get ahold of a rep, ask for an "X-Ship" or "cross ship". This way, they will send out a new board immediately, and you can send out your board within the week. This way you're only out of a motherboard for a couple days, instead of a month. Ive used it twice, and it works great.
