I need a laptop ... on the cheap.

Thread Starter
hey,
so, i'm starting college in September, and , i think i want to get a laptop for school, does anybody know of anywhere that i could find one?. . i'm not sure of my price range, but i'm not wanting to spend too much, sinse i'm broke, and i have to save up money to fix my car and what not. . =(
and also, i found a nice acer for i believe it was $500...i still say thats alot of money, lol, but it was a nice computer, however, i heard alot of bad things about acers such as short battery life, and it basically stops working after not to long of having it, anyone else know of any any problems?

thank you!

acers are definetely low on durability... gateways and dells are the best, imho... theyll be a tad more epensive, but the durability will be worth it. Dell customer support sucks, but if you have a laptop you wont be as apt to have to use it.

you can probably get a newER dell or gateway for anywhere from 500-800 USD.

anything but a macbook the and overall a mac in general the build quality is crappy. my friends have sent theirs in, upwards of 2-3 times to get the case fixed!

Id reccomend dell though, I have never had any problems with mine and their build quality is outstanding!

LOL wow, she says, "$500 is even expensive..." So that automatically puts a Mac out of the question, yet you STILL have to spew your hate and falsities lolol
===========================
The EEE comes to mind. Isn't there a $300 model out now?

I bought a Dell factory refurb.
Came with a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty. Turion 64 Dual core 2mhz CPU, 2 GB Ram, DVD Burner, 120GB HD, WirelessNIC, 15.4" LCD. Sweet Lil' bugger. Vista Home Premium. All for less than 500 bucks delivered.
Can't beat it. I love the lil' bish.
Don't buy a POS Acer, they are junk. Here is the link to the Dell Outlet:http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineS...=22&l=en&s=dfh

I do not think dell outlet is good. they sell used products for practically the new price. that is just my own opinion, it seems like most companies do that aswell (apple, alienware [owned by Dell])

Go to Best Buy, they sell Laptops below the retail price they buy it for.
They do this in hope that you'll buy all the extras such as warranties and Geek Squad services. As long as you don't give into their sales speeches you'll find some really good deals.
