Id reccomend dell though, I have never had any problems with mine and their build quality is outstanding!
What year was this? My MacBook is a 2007 and the case works fine for me. Maybe they had bad luck?

Mine is a 2007 and my friends have 2007's. I am VERY careful with mine so mine is not messed up but my friends have sent theirs in 2-3 times for case cracks.

Please, no Apple vs PC battle...

I personally bought an HP laptop for college and loved it. Maybe check out their outlet online as well.

i bought a used HP laptop two years ago with Windows XP Media center edition. I am posting this to verify that yes hp outlet is VERY good. they shipped it to me and i opened it and it was practically new, no scratches.

The problem was my HD was not hooked up and i called tech support to walk me through, had it running 5 mins later.

and it is not a mac vs. pc battle i am just reccomending the purchasing of a pc over a mac because i have had bad experiences with macs.

A Mac is already out of the question. She said even $500 is too much. There was no reason to even mention Mac.
