The X38 is PCIE 2.0 as well (the P35 is PCIE 1.1). The X38 and the X48 are the same chipset, just like the Q6600 and Q6700 are the same CPU, one is just binned higher.

Thats cool, I may do just that as I was wishing for that rampage ever since that good anandtech article. I hope if I order the maximus openbox I get some of the extras with it. The little blower fan and the lcd poster look spiffy, but not essential I suppose.

The one I ordered last week came with everything. But if it doesnt, you can get a Maximus Formula I/O shield for $10 at ebay, or you can order the Maximus Extreme I/O shield from the ASUS eStore.

Well, I don't get my money for the upgrade untill tomarrow (the 15th) and that maxumus openbox is gone. So I have a few more questions. I may go ahead and pop for the maximus retail but I want to be eyes open on my options. I like what people are saying about the DFI DK P35. Whats the comparison to the X28 Dark and does anyone know much about the X48 Dark? Also whats the diff between the dark and the full LP LT green ones?

See if I can explain them in a short paragraph. Basically, as of now, it has there series -Dark, LT and UT. Each series has board for each chipset – P35/X38/X48. Dark is the basic. LT and UT have more features, better power management, advanced cooling, more ports and PCI-E slots etc.

So they should all oc about the same in thier chipset class, give or take better cooling type stuff?

In the same chipset, well, better cooling and power management will have better OC potential. Like LT P35 has 8-Phase Power vs. Dark P35 has less.

I think microman says that you can have same OC on your quad with Gigabyte boards. (correct me if I am off topic, microman) DFI is a great board but need to take on the BISO first. Not difficult but need time to go through. With Gigabyte, you fill in 13 or 14 BIOS options, it is ready to go.
