I Need Help Please...

Hey,

Recently my pc has began to freeze.. It usually hapens while playing CoD4.. after about 1-2 hours of play my pc will all of a sudden lock up totaly.. or go extremely laggy (same as u would experience with a poor net conection) however i kno its not my internet.. i originaly thought it may be the gpu overheating... however it never happend before and i havent changed anything..

so what i did was a re-formatt of my hdd..reinstalled Vist hp 64-bit.. and all the newest updated drivers for both my mobo (chipset) and my gpu.. and it still either freezes of lags... what culd be causing this? is it even my gpu?

i have all the latest drivers for everything.. but not the new patch for the game..reason being the good servers only run the first patch and not the updated ones... and even when i did update the patch and played on other servers it still froze

Do you have enough voltage going to the CPU? Have you run Prime95 recently? I had a similar problem on my eVGA 680i board. Once I bumped the vcore 2 notches, it fixed the problem.

my advice - update your drivers, run all your ad-ware checking/spybot checking, and double check that your system isnt getting too hot. if its trapped in a corner really hot, it will deff. slow down your games.

yeah i have all new drivers.. and like i said i have only just totaly wiped everything and started from scratch so theres no virus.. as for it getting too hot its a 9800GX2.. should it really be overheating with CoD4? it wasnt doing this before..

P.S. using GPUz my idle temps are 60c

eh... chances are it probably isnt overheating, but where is your computer placed? my understanding is that CoD4 wont use that much power/get a system that hot, but you never know...
