They are seriously lagging on the games.. and the fact that sony did not secure gtaiv as a single platform title was just f'd up..
Exactly. I would also add that the games they do have look no better than they do on a 360. I have them both and play all my console games on the 360 and just use my PS3 for bluray hopefully this will change.

Let's not forget that #1 reason not to use your PS3 as a BR Player.....

As has been proven by many test's its playback image quality is subpar to other stand alone players and even "jerky" at times, which lets face whats the point of haveing HD if you're not gonna back it up with a source that fully utilize's it.

I never had a standalone player but never once has there been any issues with running bluray with my PS3.

Hey if you want to pay the same price/more for a standalone blueray player which doesn't play games like the PS3 just to rectify an issue which hardly any PS3 owners notice/probably doesn't exist then be my guest.

It's a slow 2x reader.
But it does have a slot disc load (like it sucks in the disc) so it must cost alot.

I lol'd. Only someone that's never watched a bluray on a PS3 would post that.

Lets hope gran turismo and mgs give people a reason to dust off the ol 400 dollar bluray player.
I understand your not trying to start a flame war, so my comment isn't a counter attack or anything

I would say your 'theory' about the games library is more opinionated. As is my reasoning why, i can only name about as many 360 exclusive games that i like compared to the PS3's exclusives. Sure maybe i can name a few more 360 ones, but i certainly wouldn't call the PS3 library weak, were do people come tot hat conclusion? It has some awesome games, and some decent game and yea it has bad games. But i certainly wouldn't say it has too weak of a library, the library has grown significantly since the PS3's release

Just my opinion of course.

Like EL Mike said, only someone who has never watched one would say that.

The article that mentioned that also mentioned it was practically 'un-detectable' and for a fraction of the price!? Why would you care

Seriously, we know the quality is sub-par because it isn't dedicated to Blu-Ray. Wouldn't that be obvious?

But it certainly isn't choppy nor is the image quality bad, the PS3 does an extremely good job with Blu-Ray and it plays games as well. It has a free online multi player and is a great media center!

but now i am starting to sound like a fanboy, which isn't the case. I love both my systems.

Let's Not forget the #2 Reason that it should not be MY blue ray player: I own a blue ray player

in all seriousness (that a word?), i would never advise someone who is deciding between a blu-ray player and a ps3 to get the player. The only reason i think it is superior is in it's sound + picture options, but thats it. The ps3 is an amazing console, one day i'll get one
