[PALGN] PS3 eclipses Xbox 360 sales in Europe - Page 9

I know MANY people who waited to decide on a console until the format war was over. These are HD-era gaming systems, and should have HD playback capability.

That said the only reason why the 360 is going strong is because it has a good installed fanbase from the OG xbox, and has an great game library. I bought a PS3 and then sold it because I had played every good game out.

I didn't see any point in keeping it until better titles (for my interest) came out. Having this $400 box sit there for months didn't make sense.

Now I am more likely to purchase a 360 the next time around, because I am interested in the 360's game titles more. This is obviously personal taste, but that is the area that sony needs to focus on IMO.

I agree, the Blu-Ray player was definitely a big advantage for Sony. But then that is nothing to be criticized it is something that M$ need to take notes on. And i also agree with Blu-Ray winning the format war it made people chose the PS3 and that would help in sales.

I also agree about the xbox fanbase but then i reckon Sony has a pretty strong fan base as well. To be honest i think both systems are awesome, love them both. It is just a shame my 360 craps out every time i get excited about a new release

It seems that the reliability of the 360 has been at least noticably increased with the "falcon" revision so I am hoping that MS can leave the crapping out behind them.

I must admit that MS's support of the hardware has been exemplary, for instance my best friend's has died three times, and he has had a nearly instant RMA in each case. This last time, he called and started the RMA, and then was busy and forgot/couldn't ship his dead 360 back right awayl. MS actually called him as a reminder a week or two later, "We would like to repair your unit but we still have not received it"

The thing may be less reliable than a heroin addict, but at least they always supply a new fix.

The reliability of the 360 at this point is as unmentionable as the Wii's or PS3's, which is a very good thing. We shouldn't have to discuss reliability at all with these consoles. As far as I'm concerned, the 360 is where it needs to be in terms of reliability.

I understand the praise that Microsoft gets in their handling of the situation, but I consider it them simply taking responsibility for something they are at fault for. They aren't doing anything extra, you know? If they didn't replace the RRoD'ed consoles for free, it would be ridiculous.

I was just saying that they not only are taking responsibility, but they also seem to be doing an exceptional job of keeping quick, hassle-free turnaround on the consoles.

Far from it, i couldn't disagree more.

And yea, i am satisfied with the service M$ is providing. I got mine back in 3 weeks, which is standard RMA times, so i can't really complain And it was free!

True statements, but my point was that we should expect it after what Microsoft caused. They deserve our satisfaction, not our praise.

You couldn't write a little more either?

Can you show me a report of a Falcon or even a Zephyr-based 360 getting an RRoD? How about lots of them? That's what it would take to prove the 360 unreliable beyond what we should accept. While Xenon/Xenos 360s were being shipped out to RRoD victims yes, they continued to fail and we got the "I've gone through 7 360s!" stories. It's a little different now though, don't you think?

Didn't Falcon come out late last year?

I got a new 360 in February, which died on me two months later. If they have sorted the problem then yea that is awesome.

But until it reaches most of the user base, i will reserve my judgement and say they are still un-reliable.

Until such time as you guys can manage to discuss a topic without breaking into fighting and bickering midway through, I might just keep closing them. We won't have discussion attached to news if the discussion constantly consists of flame wars and spiteful comments.
