What companys need to do is use the same system as Company of Heros; the latest version of it is uncrackable.
Uncrackable?

If it is built by smart people, it can be broken by smarter people. Anything can be cracked. Something that is protected to a point that it makes it impossible to reverse the protection would result in useless information in the first place, legit or not.

Okay, okay. Uncrackable was a bit....False.

But, it the latest version has yet to be cracked. Ever since they made you link your CD-key with an account.

No, you can.

Just use some inginuity and common sense. Support the company that creates the games even if they are linked to EA(lol, had to say that). If you get the game you get the game but give what is rightfully owed.

And come on for 40 bucks, it's been years since you could get a pre-order on a new release for that price.

Either way, most know how to "ease" the process they use but it is still no excuse to not buy the game.

I am starting to have mixed emotions about this, yeh, we, the paying customer, are going to be the ones that get screwed, but to be honest, I just don't care as long as you never see it occur, I wonder how many of you don't realize COD4 has securom on it? My only complaint is that after installing COD4 the first time, it causes a HDD error that forced me wipe my HDD, and I am sure it had something to do with securom.

If this type of thing can start bringing developers back to PC, I am all for it, but I hope they realize that not all americans are hooked up to the internet, and quite a large amount still doesn't have broadband, but I hope it doesnt take too much speed to do this.

It also doesn't limit me to a number of installs or feel the need to have to activate itself every 10 days.

Jesus man, look at what you wrote. SecuROM caused an issue that made you wipe your HDD and that's not something to be up in arms about? I'd never touch one of their products again if that happened to me. If PC game companies feel that this is the only viable path for the future, I'm done with PC gaming. It's as simple as that. I'm not a criminal and they can f themselves if they think they can get away with treating me like one.

Nearly every game that is on a disc uses SecuROM. Crysis, CoD4, BF2, BF2142, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, etc, etc.

Also, blaming SercuROM for an HDD problem is ridicules.

He is openly admitting it, he's not being conclusive since he is only justifying that could be one of the reasons in why he wouldn't buy the game.
You contradicting your own statement with his post. It gives every reason that people on OCN (judging from how many posts were made in this thread) pirate games on in reference to LegendaryC's post based on CravinR1's refusal to buy any games because of the Securom Protection .
Why would anyone need to go crazy over a minor validation that wont take more then a minute?

EA/Bioware is trying to save some money here by protecting their investment in placing Mass Effect on the PC platform. If people are supporting the removal of pirated games then what is up with all these posts opposing the actions that are taken to prevent it by boycotting games with piracy protection? Your just making the PC gaming industry worse!
