Would it even be worth it to buy crysis? - Page 2

If you want a benchmark game, yes. If you're expecting a good game, no.

I would go for STALKER or Battlefield 2. STALKER for deep single-player RPG/FPS gameplay, and Battlefield 2 for realism based shooting fun. Both games are cheap, and both look good when cranked up, which I think will be no problem on your system, especially if you OC that high-potential chip of yours.

Crysis is actually pretty fun to an extent. It's nice to be able to have a bunch of choices about how to progress through most parts (i.e. Do I sneak in with cloak, use maximum speed with a shotgun, or use maximum strength to jump on that building and do some massive spraying with an AR). I mean I used some fairly extreme ideas for the example, but those can actually be a lot of fun.

The multiplayer is really average, at best, in my opinion. Not really worth playing compared to most other online shooters. But the single player has some fun moments.

Plus, if nothing else, you can use it as a benchmark like most people use it for.

That being said, it's not worth paying the full price for in my opinion. But when it goes down a bit I would say it has at least brought enough enjoyment to not regret throwing $20-30 on or something.

if you havent played Doom 3, then give that a shot. the demo will leave you hanging so much you wont be able to wait to play it.

otherwise, try out the half life series if you havent - ALL of them, that includes HL1.

I'd siding with the Stalker crowd. It's a cracking game. Ramp EVERYTHING up to full with your 8800GT (I can do this at 16x10) and still have it silky smooth.

It wont be over in a few days either, it'll keep you coming back for more. Real champion game i reckons.

COD4 is worth it just for the mutliplayer alone, just play on a good hardcore server.

Bioshock and CoD4... Both WAY more worth it than Crysis...

The Orange Box would also be an excellent purchase

STALKER is an excellent game. You would be better off just downloading the Crysis demo and using it as a benchmark than wasting $50 on it.
