It's really called Global Climate Change, because in some places it is getting hotter and in other places it is getting colder.

Instead of using this for simulating the weather, they should use it to fold with.

I do not understand why people can believe that we can dump Billions of C02 in the atmosphere every year and have no repercussions in the long term. Just because there is snow in spring doesn't mean global warming is fake. Thats called weather. Thats the most common misconception. Global Warming =/= weather

First off it's not built yet but just concept form, while on the other hand the IBM Blue Gene IS running folding just not the F@H form.

And it did NOT say humans are causing global warming and how can we stop it. It said that it would be a massive scale climate model which is useful not only for dealing with climate change issues but also trends in hurricanes, trends in severe storms, flooding, droughts, etc. Now where is the problem with a world wide HIGHLY accurate climate model that can take in significantly larger amounts of data and give information like next hurricane season or drought with some actual accuracy? I'm sorry but I like to see this attempt at better weather forcasting. And the fact that it will over a long simulation it might be able to prove or deny global warming and if real, what the source is. Maybe if it actually runs with a square kilometer spatial resolution climate model, it could possilbly put to rest arguements about climate change.

Supernova is when a star with 4 Solar Masses (One SM = our sun) dies with a Hydrogen blast, a He Blast and maybe carbon blast and MAYBE A black hole if enough mass... Learn your stuff.. Our sun is a whimp.

There are somethings that happen outside out control, like the SUN maybe.. you know the huge ball of flaming hydrogen at the heart of our solar system. Its a ball of FIRE that can get hotter and cooler because its natural to do so.

Were not going to die because the climate changes guys.
Our sun isn't flaming, there can't be fire without oxygen.. Our sun takes H->He inside it'score and releases it... And next quote finishes this thought

You are right, I don't need a super computer, look at Venus. It's atmosphere is almost all CO2 and guess what? Surface temp: 900 degress F. CO2 doesn't allow heat to escape so at night when the heat is supposed to leave earth it stays and eventually piles up until there is such an off balance that it begins to either correct itself (ice age or something) or Earth heats up, dies.

I have yet to understand why all those who believe global warming is fake can't even back up their claims with scientific proofs and that they all say it's due to the "natural" climate change without knowing the extent to which "natural" can change.

Most of all, it had mostly been Americans who called it fake, especially those who are linked to the oil industry. If it is fake, they could've proved it fake long time ago before some Washington editor was caught for censoring this so-called "conspiracy" and resigned to work for Exxon. On the other hand, almost all known scientists can tell you it's real.

Even if it is fake, I truly don't see what's wrong with conserving what we don't have much left of.

Lol, you take me too seriously. The point is that global warming is itself a joke, and my boom theory still holds water.

This entire thread has pretty much gone wayyy off topic.

Berkeley (CA) – In supercomputing, the sky is the limit, literally. In an effort to enable more credible global climate change predictions, researchers from UC Berkeley believe that the way to go is a new kind of cloud supercomputer that includes 20 million processors delivering a peak performance of 200 PFlops to simulate 1-km scale climate models. At the same time, this proposed system would not require a power plant all for itself. How that is possible you ask? These guys are looking into ultra-efficient embedded RISC CPUs.
You stupid combative apes. You should all hide your faces behind your hairy knuckles in shame. This is not about global warming, but mapping the environment we live in.
