Death.

Its a universal languange, and you can bet people will react when its starts happening on a huge scale - when its too late. Global Warming is a fact, and the more we experience freak weather (on increasing strengths), the more people will realize this. i view it as Mother Natures way of dealing with too much life, The Butterfly Effect is one of gods greatest tools.

Due to our widespread presence and (modern) lifestyles, we are the imbalance on this small planet's tiny scales.

Surely this would be an ideal candidate for distributed-computing?

As for MMGW (Man-Made-Global-Warming) I feel that wether it is *our* fault or not is irrelevant... the fact is that by radically changing our world-view and the way we use resources will ultimately benefit us all, will it not?

[begin_paraphrase]
"We don't inherit the planet from our fathers... we borrow the planet from our children"
[end_paraphrase]

^ Someone much more astute than myself said that.

All those anti-global-warming people like you have always attacked Al Gore for his work, claiming it's a conspiracy and one that is a business. Thing is, those who say global warming is fake has always left a bad impression. Al Gore spends $300 million to put the issue in advertisements to acknowledge the ignorant, and the energy and oil industries immediately spend cash to tell people otherwise. Who here is lining the pockets for themselves?

The only thing business about it is the opposing side, where all the money is made. Al Gore could've pulled the same BS by telling us to buy Macs for some BS reason because he's part of Apple, but he didn't. It's a propaganda when corporations called it fake and convinced people to think the same.
I'm sorry to say, but you're completely wrong (unless I've misinterpreted you). Just look at this whole "Green" initiative. Everything these days is labeled green, from computers to automobiles. One of the main backers of this is General Electric, parent company of NBC News. If you ever watch anything on NBC, "Green" is shoved in your face left and right in the form of advertisements from companies with the same political and business objectives as GE. It's almost scary...like a cult. And if you don't think people are getting rich off it, well, you should.

As far as being anti-Gore...you're right, I am. So is the founder of the Weather Channel and many other scientists and people in that field that believe he manipulated his data to suit his agenda. Quite frankly I don't know who to believe 100%, but I've come to the conclusion that global warming is not going to be the end of the world ANY time soon, if it is in fact as bad as they say. It's way down low on the list of things to be concerned with in this world. Other topics like the war, illegal immigration, the economy and health care are incalculably more important.

I dont take in the whole global warming hype, but I do believe becoming more energy efficient and producing less carbon emmisions would be better for our health...

What we have done is added to that warming cycle and have made the effects of that warming worse for the planet. Global warming does exist and is happening and no amount of eye closing or ignorance is going to fix it. We need to work on lessoning the impact we are having on the natural cycles of the planet. Again, I'm not saying that humans are causing ALL the problems but we have made them worse.
Sorry but Global warming is not a FACT it’s a Theory to be considered a FACT it would need to meet scientific law and 99.9% = Theory it as to be 100% to be classed as a FACT so stop speaking **** if you have no idea what you’re talking about.

I myself believe in global warming there is evidence that it exists and that people are added to the green house effect but not enough evidence to be considered a fact of scientific law.

GW is Not a Fact.

Facts:
- This winter has been the coldest winter since '86 in the US.
- The hottest year(s) were the dustbowls of the 1930's.
- The size of the ice shleves in the south pole has been measured since 1979. The south pole now (in 2008) has the most ice it has had since 1979.

Now tell me, why the HAY did the government spend $400 million on "Green" improvements for the White House while us middle-classmen are struggling to find money to put gas in our tanks everyday? And why is no one letting us drill into the HUGE oil field off the coast of south dakota that could virtually eliminate our dependance on foreign oil?

Wow, our world is blinded and messed up.

Those that think global warming is moot need to do some basic reading, seriously. Theres been proof since before I was born, you don't need to be a scientist to know global warming is real, and happening. There is already a number of things that can happen anyday such as,

1. Large piece of Antarctica breaking off into the ocean (several hundred KM), there is proven pictures of bodies of WATER in Antarctica.

2. Greenland can literally "slip" into the ocean, just like Antarctica Greenland has bodies of water on the surface that is seeping down between the ice untill it reaches solid land at the bottom. What happens when you lubricate a piece of ice?

Its not really a joking matter, but I have to say when things start happening worse than they already have I will have my 5 minute period of laughs at those that said global warming is a myth.

PS: Shall we play a game of global thermonuclear war?

I've no delusions that Al Gore CAN save the world at this point, but to say that you AREN'T totally ignorant compared to the 1600 scientists that ARE INFINITELY MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE about the subject than you or I are is laughable. Your repeated denial of a MOUNTAIN of SCIENTIFIC evidence is also laughable. Scientific evidence>>>>your opinion based on... from what I gather, nothing but your opinion.

Are companies capitalizing on rising awareness that we're literally "using up" the planet as we know it? Of course, that's what businesses do, find demand and exploit it. BUT, IT'S A HUGE LOGICAL FLAW to try and dismiss the entire concept based on the aforementioned exploitation. Now, you can go about dismissing my argument with rationalization among other tools used by people who don't know any better, but I've said my piece.
