Is there any difference in build quality between Diamond and Sapphire?

I'm looking to get a Radeon HD 3450 to run in crossfire mode with my 780G chipset. The only graphics intensive app I'm running is COD4, and it's playable with the IGP, but I'd just like to bump up the settings a bit. I'm also not really in the mood to spend more than $100 on a GPU right now. Also, since I get to make use of my 780G with the 3450, I feel like I'm getting more bang for the buck.

So my two options are:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=3450PE512SB $65.08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...31&Tpk=100234L $52.79 (after $20 MIR)

These are the best prices for where I'm located. I would get the Diamond because it has a fan and it's cheaper, but I read somewhere that Diamond products are kind of shoddy. Also, I'm only going to be using 1 DVI port so that aspect is irrelevant in my decision making.

I ask for your guidance overclock.net. Thank you very much.

I take it you've linked to Newegg for simplicity as those prices don't correspond with what you've listed (and you're a fellow Canuck - yes, I'm Canadian )

Anyways, generally I would steer you towards Sapphire, as I've had nothing but good experiences.... BUUUUUT, I would stray from the beaten path on this particular suggestion because of the passive cooling - I never was a big fan of the idea (pun totally intended)

You won't really notice a difference in build quality and the only thing backing Sapphire on this choice is their more reputable name...

how about a 512 3650 gddr3 for $77, which i believe can also do hybrid crossfire. youll get WAAAy better performanec then with the 3450.

I bought from Diamond instead of Sapphire because of the dual slot cooler...never been a fan of single slots...

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the feedback.

After reading a lot of benchmarks, I figured that a 3650 512mb DDR3 gives between 2 to 3 times the performance of the 3450 512mb x IGP. Also, crossfiring the IGP and 3650 would be slower than just using 3650 by itself due to some bottlenecking issue.

The best price I could get for a 3650 DDR3 was $91.99 after $20 MIR. So I ended up ordering a BFG 8800GT 10 minutes ago which will end up costing me about 173 CAD after a $40 MIR. So much for the conservative mindset I had when I created this topic.

In my heart, I wanted to stick with ATI but faced with a decision between a $92 3650 and a $173 8800GT, I can't justify doing so. Buying from Vancouver, 3850 512s start at $160 and 3870s start at $171 before tax and S&H. 2900GTs are nowhere to be found. ATI is just setting themselves up for a beating.
