I plan to do the washer mod for the TRUE. I was looking at the TRUE and after reading about mounting pressure, I thought I would try to move the TRUE. Sadly, it did move and it would slowly move across the CPU when I gave it some slight force.

What kind of washer should I look for? What width, type, and thickness should I look for?

One that resembles a penny's size.

or just use a penny. it's probably cheaper than buying a washer, and by definition is the right size.

Thread Starter
:Update"
Got my True in and all setup nicely...
Lapped the hell out of that concave Piece of Crap base.
Its doing just fine... Except im in texas so my temps idle arent as low as i want them to be. Nothing i can do about that, its just too dang hot in my room and my House AC cannot keep up with my machine.
I'm loving this Cooler though, it W T F Pwns the v1 for under load temps.
I sit at about 63 Load temps accross all 4 cores with Prime running for about 30 min. 1.32 Vcore so far.
Also did the penny mod, used two pennies, because of the screw in the center.
Thanks for everyones help again!

I actually think the mounting bracket is a decent design, other than the fact that the crappy screw they used broke on mine and I had to mod it with a different screw.

They should have designed it wit more mounting pressure, however ...

Here's what I did to mine to get it mounted extra high pressure:

...

...

...

That's my T.R.U.E. mounted with bolts. Those pics are from a little guide I did a bit back and therefore the comments in the photos ...

...

Notice I also and at the same time, incorporated the washer mod. I wanted more travel on each corner bolt than the stock thermalright spring bolts allowed, they just bottom out to soon and using my own springs bolts and nuts (AND backplate) let me crank it till my motherboard had a very slight bend to it ... even *with* the backplate.

Also note: the black electrical tape in the first shot, just between the clip and the washer? This helps with the turning problem a bit by introducting to 'grip' to the parts that would normally turn against each other. Those two photos are from different mounts but I ended up using the electrical tape in my final build.

Temps were 3 to 4 degrees better than stock ...
