There's stil room for yoo, mate!

Quote:
A secondary source has told us some interesting bits about the upcoming GeForce 9900GTX, a card which will be based on the GT200 chip. We provided you with quite a lot of information last month, and the second source confirms pretty much all of it. The only real difference is that GT200 will be the heart of the GeFoce 9900 series, which was confirmed earlier. The source confirms 240 shader processors, 32 ROPS, and a 512-bit memory controller. This means that the high-end card will sport 1GB GDDR3 memory.

He also said that the card will require power from both a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCIe power connector, which is far from surprising as we're hearing that the chip has 240W TDP.
http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7712.html

Someone will make a thread about this and we will see 6 pages of eek smilies and explanations how this card will beat anything that ATI releases in the next decade.

Yay, finally a real 9 series card.

If it is like a GX2 does this make the GX2 256 SP and this 192SP or 2*192SP?

No, they are saying that it has roughly the same total number of hfunctional units/horsepower on single GPU.

If the rumor is correct, it's 192 total (which is a reasonable number).

Listing it as 192*2 would be stupid considering it's a single GPU. Also, 384 of NVIDIA's shader processors would not fit on a single die economically.

It is easy to make something up. However, your fake specs are no where near plausible.

You are right about people eating it up though. One of the major reasons for the intial disapointment of the G92s (as a G80 successor) were that people were foolishly anticipating a card with specs far beyond what was realistically possible.

It has 2 single cores glued together like Pentium D.
GX2 is more like 2 8800 GTS linked with SLI.

Not an Nvidia fanboi but Nvidia's high end offering(s) are better than ATI's when it comes to Crysis performance. So why base your decision on brand "loyalty" based on the performance of just one lousy game? Besides, it's not like Crysis is "zomgthebestgameevar". It's a mediocre shooter with great graphics that make high end systems cry. I'll replay Bioshock and get a better gaming experience.

haha...its the GX2 condensed. what does that do? nothing. all it does is turn quad sli into...normal SLI. to me, quad sounds alot better. and, knowing nvidia, this card is going to cost like $700.

Does anyone know how the two cores are going to communicate? The 3870X2 was two GPUs on one PCB with on board CF, right? The 9800GX2 uses SLI with 2 PCBs. If the GT200 is two cores on one chip, wouldn't it possibly be significantly faster than a GX2?
