I dont think its that crazy for a game to allow scalability for the future well beyond what is current....

secondly there is no proof anywhere that crysis is badly coded..

The proposed 9900GTX has 50% fewer SP's than the 9800GX2... I'm not certain why so many people suppose it will be faster... There might be some magic interconnects that nVidia's been working on, but at the end of the day I believe this too will just use some flavor of SLI, in which case it cannot be faster than a 9800GX2.

Look at games such as Supreme Commander or Sins of a Solar Empire, they may not look as good, but they have more going on at a large battle in terms of what the GPU has to do than Crysis has, yet they usually run at better resolutions, and look at the Source engine, HL2 can run @ Highest, 1280x1024, on my Athlon XP rig, which can't even run Crysis, and HL2 only looks a little worse than Crysis IMO.

well thats the furthest thing from proof.. but interesting points..
hl2 while it has an amazing art direction and i believe most of the time is more appealing then crysis, is far from what crysis is.

Crysis is an interactive benchmark. It's certainly not a great game, at least not after all the hype surrounding it.

Where would you get this idea?

It's supposedly single GPU with 192SP.

There are no "mult-core" GPUs in the sense people are talking about, because, in essence, every single GPU is already multi-cored.

Firstly, it's not some flavor of SLI, as it's not two separate chips. It is a single GPU.

Secondly, it's quite easy to see how this GT200 with 32 ROPS, 192 Shaders, and a 512-bit memory interface could be faster than a 9800GX2. There would be none of the SLI inefficencies to deal with, and it's virtually a given that the clocks would all be significantly higher.

Awesome, another G80 rehash.

Well, I guess it could be good, as all of intel's current CPUs go back to the pentium 3 architecture.

But I doubt it.
