Whose up for a challenge? Can't install XP on HP DV1000 Laptop

Ok so this was a laptop my mother had bought for my cousin for college work. Things didn't turn out too good for her(I.E she F'ed up big time) and now i have two laptops. The thing is when we first got the laptop i had set it up with office and all the things she needs to get running.

I had also made the recovery discs as well in the even i needed to reinstall the OS. The thing about the recovery discs is that since the laptop had a combo drive, it required 13 CD's to make them. I screwed up cause i didn't make a copy of them on to a dvd and i had given them to her which in turn she had lost them. I figure no problem since there is a recovery partition on the HDD

I get the laptop back screwed up beyond windows recovery console fix. Plus the recovery partition on the HDD requires me to use the CD's. Now the laptop is in a bootloop saying it can't find boot loop saying

"Media test failure, check cable"
"exiting intel boot agent"

Now when i try to install from a windows CD (xp pro, it came with home but i have an extra key) i have a missing HDD on the screen. Since the HDD is SATA, i figure i need raid drivers. I go to the HP website to download the raid drivers and attempt a slipstream. Low and behold, there are no raid drivers for the DV1000CTO notebook on their site.

So how do I get a xp install on there with no raid drivers? It would be nice not to have to order the CD's from HP since it's gonna come with all that crap i gotta remove.

Here are the specs for the laptop:

Hp DV1000 (purchased 2006)

intel core T2050
2x512MB
40 gig HDD
on board intel video card

Trying to work out why your thinking RAID drivers with a laptop? There is no RAID, your using a single drive obviously.

Place XP CD in the drive and boot off of it.

well it doesn't work because it can't see the HDD. I would assume i need a sata controller just like i did for my desktop. I had to slip stream my sata controller into my XP disc for my desktop for that to work. So i'm using the same logic for the laptop.

1. Put the XP cd in the drive, then while starting your pc press delete to get into your system bios.

2. Under boot device priority set your cd drive to first priority.

3. Restart, it should load and reinstall XP from the cd drive.

lol i do. Listen it's not that i don't know how to boot to the disc, its that XP installation doesn't see the HDD. Since this is a pre-service pack 2 disc, the disc doesn't have the necessary controllers to see the HDD. I need the sata controllers for laptop.

I know its the sata controllers that i need being that it's a sata laptop and my install disc doesn't have the sata drivers. You know how you press f6 so you can install third party drivers? yea it's those drivers i need. But when i look on HP's site i don't see it there listed for this laptop.

UPDATE:

i decided to disable the sata support which is enabled in the bios, now it sees the HDD and is formatting it now. hopefully if i slipstreamed everything correctly, i'll have a automated drivers slipstream with sp3 and wmp11. Woot.

Is your hard drive in your boot options? It's not booting off anything else? Have you tried re-enabling SATA support in the BIOS so it can boot off the drive?

Can always drop kick it across the room, it not yours right? just say it fell.... lol If worse comes to worse I have an more up-to-date copy of xp that will install on any hp laptop without all the headaches

edit: err. figured should rephrase, the disc I have is for any hp laptop product the has oem bios, as long as it is installed on an hp product, it is legitimate software. It is a recovery dvd basically.
