Like everyone before me has said...just because something has a life cycle of 10 years doesn't mean that it will be the flagship for 10 years. The PS2 is almost 8 years old now I think. It still sells well.

I bet that if you account for the amount of RROD loss in the X360 cost structure they aren't making all that much money on those bricks.

FWIW, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony didn't try to hammer home a PS4 in a standard console sense. Like fitting a square peg into a round hole for most consumers nowadays.
I don't underestimate Sony in the least. However, Microsoft is a much stronger corporate entity in comparison, and has quite a bit more backup funds to push flagship consoles.
