E8400 Stock heatsink

Thread Starter
Hey everyone.
I just got an E8400 and have a question about the stock heatsink. When you look on the back, it has 3 gray strips on it. I think this is pre-applied thermal grease or something. Can anyone verify that for me? I have some AS5 also that I am wanting to use instead. Any advice on getting that pre-applied stuff off of there would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
