I find this interesting because it mentions it stops places like Gamestop and BRE Software from selling used titles.

Copyright laws have gone too far already. I'm against cheating and all that, but the last thing we need is more draconian copyright laws that dictate what we can and can't do with a bunch of 0's and 1's.

Not in defense of organizations like the RIAA, but copyright laws DO serve a significant and important purpose. People who create and retail technology, whether it's hardware, software, or anything else, deserve to benefit from their creations. Copyright laws exist to protect the creators from baseless selfishness and greed that arises from piracy and idea infringement. Just because you bought the software doesn't mean you bought the right to do whatever you want with "a bunch of 0s and 1s."

I have to disagree here I am definently not the brightest person out there but I don't think there is ever any valid excuse to pirate. I just don't I understand people get upset with prices/quality and lack of quality demos or whatever. I just don't believe its right. I think because or pirating we see things like this. If there was no pirating I think the industry would not be in the shape it is.

Anyone remember the Bioshock PC debacle? That would never of existed without pirating. I think it kills thats just my opinion though.

The problem with piracy is simple human selfishness. The most common excuse I've heard is that they don't want to have to pay for a $50+ game, plain and simple. Another more convoluted excuse is that they don't believe a game is worth the $50 pricetag that the developers/publishers/retailers slap onto the box. If that's the case, then don't buy the game and be done with it. Most pirates wouldn't steal a car or a television because they didn't agree with the pricetag, they would just not buy the product. However, it's a totally different story when you're trying to steal a large physical object like a car or TV, rather than downloading a cracked game with a few clicks of the mouse.

Did I say abolish copyright laws completely? No.

Do I have the right to do whatever I want with those 0's and 1's on my computer, for my own personal use? Yes.
