OK. So this is my first workstation build, and its for a friend, so I want to get it right. His goal was to stay under $1000 for the tower, and I'm coming pretty close. What do you think of the build
Intel Q6600 Quad $220
Gigabyte P35 $100
PNY Quadro FX570 Workstation GPU $193
Gskill 2x2gb DDR2 800 $85
Seagate 250gb 16m Cache HDD $65
Vista Home Premium 64bit
Thermaltake Soprano case $65
Antec 500w PSU $45
Pioneer SATA DVD burner $38
Freezer 7 CPU cooler $30
Everything is adding up to about $850 w/ some extras like fans.
Any suggestions?

I'm using a Quadro at work and I hate that. For my personal computer at home I use a 8800GTS for the same kind of work and I think Quadro are too expensive for the plus they can offer I'll stick with a 8600 or 9600 if I was you.

I have to say, the gpu in this application is the hardest thing for me to work out. Im not sure at all what to use. He needs something for 3d rendering, multiple parts at the same time. I don't know to much about it, but he just doesn't want slow load times.

I would change the OS to XP Pro X64, I'm not certain but Catia is a bit sketchy on Vista (I think the latest release of V5 is compatible). Probably best sticking with the tried and tested.

The Quadro FX570 is a pretty decent card and is worth the investment if the machine is to be used for work, Catia is pretty demanding and a fully certified OpenGL card is probaly going to cause less stress and headaches than a gaming card.

So for the budget, this is the best I can do? I know I'm not that good at this stuff. I was really expecting someone to tear apart my recommendations and feed me something else.
