Please help me get stable!!

Thread Starter
Hey guys ,

my pc freezes and cannot complete 2 hour OCCT 2H mix......

I ran OCCT CPU for over 6 hours , but cant pass 2 hours on mix mode.....

the picture provided is my memory timings (they are on optimal in bios) , my ram is this ram :

http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...um_2gb_edition

my ram voltage in bios is 2.1v , at timings of 5-5-5-5 it fails OCCT.

also , should I overclock my memory?? i have never oc'd memory by a big margin before and im not sure how exacly timings work etc.....also will it make a difference if my memory is 1:1 or 1:2? if for argument sake the memory is always at 800MHZ on either scale??

please help me! im testing now with optimal settings in bios (as you can see my timings are soo low)

thanks for any help

peace

Firstly I am assuming that you are failing on 3.6GHz 400FSBx 9. It appears that while you pass your CPU test and fail the mix (I would focus on your NorthBridge Voltage).

I would also keep your memory at 400 MHz as it is DDR2 6400 and unless you know that your memory will do greater than the rated 800 MHZ you do not need to over clock the memory at this stage. You need to stabilize your system and then you can do something else, because too many things can go wrong and you reaaly can be in the dark as to where the problem is.

So whatever voltage you have on the NB up it a bit ( I am testing mine at the moment at 390FSB X9 and it fell over after 9.5h of P95 with Blend. I had my NB Voltage at 1.33v and upped it to 1.405v and it has now passed the problem area.

I see your FSB is 404.9 and even though your latencies are very relaxed can this memory do the extra 10MHz ie 810 MHz.

sorry forgot to add , this is @ 3.4ghz!!! with a multi of 9x

my memory is rated as

5-4-4-15 , soo the timings are very relaxed...should i make them default???

Yes make the Memory default as per the manufacturer and also set it to the Minimum Voltage, this should be ok as it is rated to 800 MHz and you are only at 760 MHz (380 FSB). As you scale higher in Frequency over 400 FSB, then increase the memory voltage to near the high end of the range. After 400 FSB assuming you can get that high you will be over clocking the memory as you will be going faster than 800 MHz.

Also what are your load temps like now at 3.4GHz and what is the VCore set to. Also can you tell me the VID of your Q6600 and you can get that from CoreTemp.

Hope that was a typo. I'm pretty sure your last number (tRAS) won't be 5.

I was just going to say that 5-5-5-5 was way, way way too tight.

I'd say set them all to optimal or auto and default voltages and then stress your CPU some more to just double check that it IS in fact your ram. Otherwise, crank up the voltages or submit to the fact that you have to loosen your timings.

ok got it 2 hours mix in occt with optimal settings (and those very loose timings)......

gonna do a 10 hour P95 blend test now with new timings (5-4-4-15) will post if that finishes or crashes!!!!

for some reason if my memory aint stable P95 crashes within the first 10 minutes under blend , occt will usually crash 55 minutes in , they must do similar tests just at diffferent times....
