Should I reseat my TRUE?

Thread Starter
I don't know if I put too much AS5 or if it is cured but I'm not completely satisfied with my temps. I'm getting 35 idle, 57 load (467x9, 1.35625 vcore). Also, I'm not sure if my AS5 is cured (I put it about 2 weeks ago) or if I put too much. I followed the instructions on the site, straight line through the middle. So do you think I should reseat my TRUE or wait another week to decide or those are the best temps I'm going to get?

It takes a few heating cycles for the TIM to cure, but even after the AS5 completely cures, you're not going to notice a huge drop in idle/load temps. I'd say go ahead and reseat your TRUE, and make sure to apply a very thin line of AS5 across the cores.

You might want to reseat, but airflow might also be an issue. How aggressive is your OC? What are your ambients?

That looks about right depending on your OC, ambients, and airflow.

If you have good airflow, are at over 3.2ghz OC, and over 21C, those temps are ok.

If your ambients are under 21 and/or you have excellent airflow, I would suggest a reseat.

My overclock is 40% according to OCCT. 4.0GHz overclock, 3.0GHz stock. My case has average airflow and I have a Scythe S-Flex 63 CFM attached to my TRUE. My ambient is 20. Are those temps about right for my variables or it could be better?

EDIT: My TRUE and CPU are lapped.

Those temps look about right. When I had my e8400 at 450X9 @1.34 vcore in bios with my true lapped with 2 kaze fans in a push push setup, my idle temps were around 31c idle and load around 59c load when running prime95. Room temp around 75F.

some people say to put a drop of TIM in the rather than a line so it spreads itself in radial symmetry. But I think both ways work.

I think you can get a bit better temps with a reseat. I have my Q6600 at better than those temps and 22C ambient.

Try the dot in the middle method, but add one mini-dot of TIM near each corner. Not as good as my patent-pending polka-dot method, but it`s easy.

What kind of fan do you have attached to your TRUE? I'll be getting the Ultra Kaze 133 CFM this weekend, hopefully I yield much better results.
