Sound Blaster X-Fi flexijack? - Page 2

yeah and he's asking about setting it up in XP. If what I suggested up there doesnt work, go into control panel, and open up audio console. click on the restore defaults tab, and restore defaults for everything, then run the audio tuning wizard again.

Doh, didn't even look at that about XP,(although I was thinking it was similar) Been awhile since I used XP, already switched all my rigs to Vista now.

Yea, set to default and should be good to go, I don't remember having to change any settings in XP, just plugged and went.

Hope ya get it workin man

Yeah I ran the wizard and it gave me a error that it coulds complete.. I'll try it again at defualts
post #15 of 24
ah yes. forget the silly bloatware audio console there. I had more problems out of that, so I got rid of it. go to the Device Control in control panel. It's tabbed, and has all the features there that the silly GUI audio panel has without the overhead. Restore defaults, then run audio tuning wizard from Windows Messenger.

Grr I'm not finding a restor defualts to all propertys. I see one for Volume>speaker settings and voice play back under speakers preformance tab.

Edit I can run the speaker config wizard for the X-fi and use digital but It doesn't give me the option later to change the flexijack.

Edit again: I restoried defualts on this horid little gui rand the wizard on digital and changed REC to mic cranked it and now im gettin sound. Thats good enough for me Rep+ for sure

Yeah I was hoping this one whould be nice but so far its been kinda painful as far as a mic goes. The mic /digital I/O is still greyed out but the mic works with my front mic jack since I hooped em up when I was installing the card.

I just bought the XGamer Fatal!ty Pro myself... I have XP and my mic works.

You have to go into the "Settings" panel on your Creative Volume Panel, the thing that looks like a volume knob in your taskbar.

Then you must select Mic In on the Settings Panel.

After that, your mic should work if you have it properly configured in your Creative Play control Playback and Recording settings.

Go to your Play Control...

Then modify your Playback and Recording properties for your mic...

After that, it should work... Hopefully it does. Good luck!

Darkfury I think you have the version "better" then I do. With drivers that actualy work. Because that part in the "settings" window where it shows the flexijack options is completely grey'ed out.

I went to creatives site and found out that 95% of the XP and Vista customers that buy the X-Fi Xtremegamer have the flexijack options grey'ed out. This makes me not what to support a company that puts "includes mic jack" on their box then not support it in the drivers.

I was going to live with it but after reading that I'm taking it back for sure now. I'm not sure if I want to try the version thats $30 more or stick with onboard. Asus seems to have cards that actualy work these days. To bad best buy and circuit city don't carry them.

I uninstalled the drivers and used DC pro then re-installed the RealtecAC drivers for my onboard till I get this sorted out, but now my on board doesn't work anymore. Thanks creative..

Edit: I'm reading some pretty scary reviews on newegg about the pro series. I think I'm just going to stay away from creative till they can make some creative drivers. I read one guy on there a few pages back had his onboard audio wiped too and had to reformat. Uninstalling is a usless fix.
