first monster build

Thread Starter
here's the deal guys, I won a lot of money in vegas and I decided to make my first monster build, here's what I got:

- 2 EVGA GeForce 9800 GX2 Video Card - 1GB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDMI

- Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard - Intel X48

- 2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Hard Drive - 7200, 8MB, Serial ATA-300, OEM (working on RAID)

- Cooler Master RC-1100 Cosmos S ATX Full-Tower Case

- Ultra X3 ULT40064 1000-Watt Power Supply - ATX, SATA-Ready, PCI-E Ready, Energy Efficient, Modular

- Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650

- 2 kits of 4GB Corsair's XMS2 Dominator (I said a lot of monney but not as much to go with DDR3, that's why I went with ASUS rampage)

that's pretty much it I think, I have build PC's in the past but not this big, I want to overclock this baby but I have no practice with overclocking or liquid cooling, if I can get some help from you guys who really seam to know what the hell you're talking about I would really appreciate it. Also I've been hearing that the ASUS is better than the NVIDIA motherboards because of the heat they produce, also the X48 intel chipset seams to be faster, correct me if I'm wrong and please and tell me what the hell do I need to do to overclock that sucker.

thanks for your time and help guys

In here Welcome to the forums. Also, iampoor is absolutely correct, the only intel chipset based motherboards that support SLI are the Skulltrail, which run around $600. If you want SLI you will need to get an Nvidia chipset mobo such as a 780i or 790i which support ddr2 & ddr3 respectively. Alternatively you could get two ATI 3870x2's to run in CrossfireX on the intel chipset board.
