Synthetic benchmarks mean a lot Nvidia cards still trounce them in any real world application.

Last few months I've heard nothing but bad things about catalyst (8.4 I think?) as well.

I'm not saying that ATI is bad, ATI drivers suck though, the question is what work best with what, don't you think my friend? in my case NVIDIA does the trick for me

2GB modules overclock very poorly. Buy DDR3-1333, it's cheap and overclocks great.

If ATI drivers were bad CF wouldn't scale as well as it does.

The QX9650 is known to get to 4.2 ghz on air. Infact mine would quite happily reach 4.0 ghz with a Zalman 9700 with load temps at 50c with 1.36v.

The QX9650 is the best chip available right now, overclocks superbly on a good air setup so if you wanna fork out the cash for it then do so. You won't regret it
If you are a first time overclocker, getting a QX series chip is bottom line idiocy. To get the most out of it you would need some good components and a little skill.

For a cheaper price get the Q6700. It does nearly as well and in gaming it won't make a difference. In fact, for gaming I'd suggest an E8400.

A 1000W PSU is also stupid. A nice Seasonic, Silverstone etc. 850W is more than enough.

As for graphics cards I'd go with 9800GTX in SLI at the moment or a HD3870X2 with that crossfire board.

PS: I despise people who don't know much but go for ridiculous motherboards like the X48. An X38 board would be half the price and just as good. Just because you won in Vegas doesn't mean you blow it on useless crap. Learning drivers don't buy Ferrari's for a reason.

I understand it's an overkill right now, but you gotta understand that I'm not gonna be able to upgrade for a long while, besides as far as I know that pc cost me nothing, I'm a learning driver who wants to learn in a twin turbo v8

Overkill is your life, like when I was younger, lets be friends! But really, a Q6700 or a Q9450 are more than enough if it's a gaming PC.

Why? Getting a $1000 chip at the moment to have it obsolete in half a year is stupid especially when you could get a $300 chip now that does just as well and then a $300 chip in half year that smokes it.

If price is the underlying factor in your inability to upgrade then your logic is a farce.
