thanks, I've seen the numbers but in real life gaming do you think that it's worth it to go with the 790i and the DDR3 RAM?

Are you planning on using SLI ? If not consider X48 or P45.

the 9800GX2s are a waste of time, and drivers will NOT make them better, sli 8800GTSs beats a single gx2 trust me get 2 9800gtx and sli em,also a better board for you would be a striker 2 formula, you cant sli with the board you have there, otherwise it sounds good

I'm planing on going SLI, noodle r u sure that the drivers wont make the gx2 better, I mean check this out:

pretty good I think, I just don't know if there's a big performance boost between the 780i and the 790i
post #65 of 162
seriously, theres not much difference with a good monitor and a gts (g92), seriously though, trust me the 9800gx2 is not as good as they said it would be, as i said before, sli 8800gts (g92) will beat a single 9800gx2 in overal performance, the drivers for the 9800GTX will make it a very formidable card, an sli rig with them would be something to see......it does look good in the video though, there isnt that much difference between mine and that, my cousin has a single 8800ultra and it looks exact same!

really? I wouldn't know about that but it's a 4 video card system, that's got to have some good potential, don't you think, give me the benchmark on those cards, maybe the GX2 aren't as great as they make it look, thanks guy.

If you want double gfx, get 2 3870x2 for crossfire. If you want nvidia, just get one 9800gx2. If its a monster build, use a decent PSU. Use the Corsair HX 1000. Modular and efficient.

it as a monster build, I'm going with 2 GX2, a QX9650 the PSU is a enermax EGA 1000W galaxy, I don't know if it's good, a guy recommended to me, anyways I'm struggling whether I should go with the 780i and DDR2 or the 790i and the DDR3, what do you think cyborg939?

I'd go with a Thermaltake 1000W instead. Also why not stick with 1 GX2 and see if u need another down the road ?. Don't consider 780i it's not worth it , go P45/X48. 790i has big performance boost over 780i. http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3283 that should help clear some things up.

thanks 45nm, but I am going with 2 GX2, it's a now or never thing for me so might as well do it now, and the problem with the x48 is that I cant run both GX2 on SLI, so that's a big turnoff, how about the 790i? and what RAM do you recommend?
