What is this "unidentified device"?

Thread Starter
I loaded Vista and a window comes up that says installing unidentified device (I click locate and install drivers). Then the computer doesn't find the drivers and cannot install this "unidentified device". Can anybody help me figure out what this device could be because its causing chaos in my booting (if you read my emergency threads).

EDIT: here's exactly what happens (if it helps):
When I load a screen opens saying that Windows Needs to Install driver software for your unknown device.
I click locate and install driver software. It'll search for a while.
Then it says windows couldn't find driver software for your device.

I click check for a solution and it tells me to download "Update for Windows Vista, 32-bit versions (KB940199)"
However, when I try to install that it says it is not for this system.

Chipset, network adapters, USB, sound card....

Boot into safe mode and install drivers.

I found 4 unknowns from driverguide toolkit:

USB SCANNER- I used to have a scanner but haven't used it in about a year and I don't think I ever installed it on this PC (its not plugged in)

Sony Ericsson USB WMC OBEX interface- uhh I have a sony ericsson fone?
Sony Ericsson USB WMC Device Manager- same as above

under printers:
Send to OneNote2007- no idea

Those are the only unknowns I see.

Unplug your printer and all non-kyboard/mouse USB device.
