You sir, are a moron. Have you not been paying attention? They have been beefing up with security and DRM, and all its done has made it worse for us.

It isn't simple and there isn't a defined solution but this is not the right way to go about it.

I do think however, game manufacturers are getting away with charging far too much. $99.95 for a new title? What the hell? I reckon $60-70 would be more than enough.
Agreed, but 60-70 is STILL too much for a videogame. Jesus I can barely stand paying 50.

But the retailers won't buy it from publishers if the games turn out to be unpopular. THINK.

Wow, you know what.....I've got something I want you to see.

http://www.adultswim.com/video/?epis...1580706a960004

Please watch that because everytime someone makes the comparison between robbing an old lady and piracy this is what I think about. And at the end of watching that...take a look back at your statement. Piracy is piracy. It's not like robbing an old lady. It's even remotely close to robbing an old lady. Hell, if piracy was such a crime or a felony, why is that no one is being put in jail for piracy and everyone is just being sued. How many robbers out there are being sued by the old lady...that should tell you all you need to know.

I agree, the price needs to stay at $50 or below.

Also, I think that online agents, like through Steam, will drop the price a little (removes shipping, packaging fee's, DVD burning etc..) and make it easier for people to get games.

I love how they assume everyone is stealing.

I'm not going to torrent some game even if I wanted to because it's just too much hassle. The cost of the game needs to outweigh the piracy effort. Piracy happens with more expensive stuff like Professional Software or Windows (which is in no way professional ). Also music just because each song is only a few minutes so you need a lot of them.

But games? I don't have time to mess with weird hacks when I already own my favorite Valve games. I dunno. I have plenty of games to keep me busy.

...unpopularity has nothing to do with a game going on clearance. The whole concept of a "clearance" is to remove old inventory or clear it out for new inventory. The most common reason is because it's been out for awhile and the retailer is removing old stock to make room for new stock. Other reasons could be newer revisions of the item, different bundles, store closings, new graphics, etc. maybe you should take your own advice and "THINK".

I mean Target is a wonderful example. They put PC Games, PS3 games, XBOX360 games and accessories on clearance all the time. Is it because they are "unpopular". No it's because they are old and they need the space for newer games.

The price needs to stay below £25 for a brand new game?

Over here GTA IV costs £50 in some places! Incase you don't know, thats $100!

It is stealing as much as if he were a crackhead who walks into a store and sticks it under his coat.

No different.

I'm not saying that everything out there is worth near the price tag they put on it, but if it something you will get 500+ hours of use out of, then it is a bargain to pay for it.

Really?!

I thought the guy above talking about that price was kidding!

Then that is really too much, if most new games were made that expensive, they had better be very very good and extremely long, or else pirating will be extremely rampant.

Simply because the £ is rather powerful compared to the Dollar...but £50 for a games is just dumb.

Yeah that sounds like a lot of money... But if the situation is remotely similar to the $8+ per gallon of unleaded gas you guys pay then you can blame the excessive tax rates in the UK. I don't have any recent figures but back in 06 taxes accounted for well over half the price of unleaded gasoline in the UK.
