"But it's not the pirates. The pirates are the scapegoat. "

That's, uh, I believe counterfactual is the polite term.

It really is amazing to see people defend pirating. Some skull-busting stuff. Don't get me wrong, I've p2p'd a song here and there, but I dont' defend it. Even aside from issues of personal integrity, the practical consequences are severe...I already ranted about this somewhere, won't torture y'all again. Now I just try to relax and see this as a psychological phenomenon worthy of study and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Using a cartoon to buttress your argument...how are we supposed to respond? "Great animation! You've persuaded me!"

All I know is that the evidence is here that piracy is hurting the pc gaming industy. Why everyone thinks it's ok to turn a blind eye to it is beyond me.

Don't you guys get it?? Every publisher and developer are shying away from pc exclusive titles. Yet everyone says "well every good game on console comes to pc anyways", well my respnse to that is "screw console ports" I want pc games not freakin 360 games, if I wanted 360 games I'd buy a 360 I mean come on we spend more on a gfx card alone.(or atleast some of us do)

Our hobby is dieing, short and sweet. Yes it boils down to money, why wouldn't it. Look at how much the budget is for console games now, GTAIV was $170 MILLION, you think they JUST WANT TO SELL 100,000 copies and let the rest get it for FREE. I think not.

Ignorance is Bliss to some though.

If you have the damned money to drop on a 500$ graphics card, you should have enough money to afford the 50$ game.

I'm not accusing you, I'm just refering to gamers in general.

It's easy to find jobs... it's hard to find a teenager that isn't lazy.

No different.
How is that exactly the same? The man who steals from the store decreases supply for the rest of the customers because he steals a physical object. When somebody downloads something a copy is being made leaving the original intact and thus the supply is unaffected.

When you guys are going to stop with these idiotic analogies?

First off I have never pirated a game. Everything I own in my life was bought and paid and this includes games & movies.

The prices of games are way too high, and this is partly to blame for the piracy, but not totally. If games cost $.01 but were easy to pirate, people would still pirate it anyway just because they can and probably enjoy the thrill of doing it. Let's talk about the price of PC games, $49.99 seems to be the going rate for a new AAA title. A new movie cost $15-20 and usually have much higher production costs. These prices should be more in line with each other in my opinion. Although a game offers usually more than 2 hrs entertainment, most people who buy a movie they like watch it more than once anyway. Now how do they justify $49.99 for a game? I know the stores selling them don't make much of a profit if at all. Is it possible that they know that their games will be copied/torrented/cracked/shared etc and that some of that "lost" revenue is reflected in the high price?

Okay, now that's simply not true. If I had the money, I would buy all the games I play.

Don't look at my sig rig and think "hey, you're not poor...". I'm still 16 and a student, and finding time for a job inbetween everything is hard.

I only get to work for a while every few months, and most of the time, asking the parents for money isn't an option.

Piracy will be the end of PC gaming as we know it. And the dumb*ss’s out there will be the cause of it. If you don't call it stealing... send me your account numbers to your bank accounts and let’s see if you call that stealing... (After all I'm only taking your digital money not physical property). If you can’t afford it when it first comes out… then wait till it goes on sale like some have stated. If you can’t afford it and don’t want to wait then find a better job. Also for the comment about the movie production costs; they shouldn’t be paying most of those dumbass actors millions of dollars that can’t act anyway, and the movie wouldn’t cost so damn much to produce…

If you're a pos... then just keep stealing and watch the years to come where PC games become a thing of the past. If you do download them and like the game... then buy it... don't play through the whole game and go "Wow that was a good game." then do nothing about it....

...Because it is stealing?

You people have the worst analogies. Piracy is unauthorized reproduction and distribution of said game. Not hacking into your computer and stealing all of your games so that you can't play them again.
