played crysis for the first time yesterday - Page 2

I like the graphics and the gameplay is fair. There are a lot of slow points in the game. It also took a bit for me to get used to the shooting. Once you get the hang of it, they enemies go down much easier.

Graphically it's pretty amazing, it's not til you sit back and realise just how much is being rendered. It's mind boggling.....My only gripe is the colour palette in use, it's a little bland. And what's with all the bloody trees, there's too many.

Gameplay it's pretty damn cool, but i feel there should be a lot more to the game. It was great until the aliens appeared and got very dull indeed. Seemed repetitive most of the time.

AI was terrible, no matter how Crytek made it out to be. They were plain stupid most of the time. Thankfully it's a trilogy so we may see better things to come that will truly blow us away.

At the moment the biggest annoyance is optimisation, it's just bad. Quad SLI needs to be supported properly by this game also.

The reason for crysis performing so poorly is because it has been made using the CryEngine2. This was an engine designed for 3d moddeling and acrhitecture on mass scales.... Not for fast moving explosive gun fights etc....

the game scales very well for different applications and when you have it running on a 22" + monitor on full res it looks incredibly pretty, i actually dismissed the game the first time round for the lack of invention in it, but once i ran it on a better system the graphics did give me more reason to play it, but i hit a wall a few hours in and got bored!

Pretty graphics managed to get me to go back to it, but they still didn't give enough reason to waste anymore time on this than i gave it.

HOWEVER...... the level editor sandbox IS fantastic. Definately not for beginners but it's a very formidable tool that they had the forsight to include. thumbs up for that if nothing else.

I to think the game was boring but it just looked AWESOME! Sorry for that outburst. I could and still can play on very high + motion blur turned off @ 1680x1050. I am hoping that part 2 we'll get a better story.

It's just badly optimised and doesn't support recent GPU's, hopefully patches will address this in the near future. SP is laggy with terrible spiking going on, MP is completely unplayable for me with my h/w, although i had no issues with SLI GTX's. Again, it needs to support our h/w!

The good news, well if you can call it good news is that in upcoming patches it's going to have an even higher detail level ie; extreme.

Granted all I have is the demo version, but I can't find myself wanting to purchase the entire game. I do find the graphics pretty intense, yes, but the game's not all that fun. I pretty much just use it to test my graphics card out when I overclock. It just lies dormant the rest of the time.

As for thrills, I have yet to find a game to beat out Half Life 2. Graphics aside, this game is very creative and suspenseful, as well as inventive. I didn't try the Crysis demo until after I was done with HL2, and I was wanting to quench my thirst for more, and I found myself wanting. Sorry Crytek, it just didn't do it for me.

Once again, I will say this. Crysis looked good, but it was HORRIBLE. The cost to hardware was not worth the poor coding. They simply brute forced their code.

I don't think you have seen or played enough games. I bought into the hype and gave it a hell of a chance for a couple of months. But after everything is said and done it was a letdown for sure. Physics are kind of dorky sometimes, totally unbalanced weapons, useless features, vehicle controls all suck, close-quarters fighting an exercise in jumping around spraying bullets, the worst AI since Doom 1.

And what is with looking down when you climb ladders?
