Which one Is definitely better ?

There is no "Huge" difference between those two.The Prelude is slightly better depending on the speakers you have....But the Elite is priced at ~300$ and the Prelude is priced at ~180$.....The Prelude is the better buy unless you want some extra connectivity to your audio gear...

With the prelude you can change the Opamps to make it more powerful from what I understand. not only that but I beleive the prelude supports Optical out from out the box I think.

I would get the prelude personally.

Auzentech X-Fi Prelude soundcard
View from above, with Toslink-to-mini optical adapters installed (lower left of image).

I consider than a lovely advantage in the first place..with the swappable opamps even if it is for the front channels only.

The Elite can be found for $80 (with headset) on Newegg... however, the poster is in Russia...
Once again...

It all depends on what you want. If you were ready to splash the cash on a good and lasting audio solution then I would go for the prelude. If you are going for something with some nice features for casual gaming and audio then the Elite may be best.

Depends how much you are willing to spend.

I don't mind spending the required amount on the elite-pro or the x-fi prelude. In terms of sound quality , performance etc... which one wins ?
In terms of Quality and performance I would say the Prelude takes it. Find some reviews to set your mind at rest but I am pretty sure out of the two I would take the prelude.

Just out of curiosity which Creative X-FI model is the Prelude based off ? is it the Elite Pro ?
