New Games-Lag Issues

Thread Starter
Hi, I have some questions about newer games...particularly dx10 games. Here are my system specs:
Asus P5NE-SLI motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 oc'd to 2.64ghz(liquid cooled, avg temp around 39C)
4gb ddr2 pc6400 A-DATA RAM oc'd to 880mhz 5-5-5-14 timings
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX 384-bit 768MB DDR3 oc'd clock speeds at
625/1464/900
19" 1440X900 monitor
Vista 64-bit
Ultra X-Pro 800W PSU
320GB 7200RPM HD

ok...so I play alot of new games like COD4, Company of Heroes,Crysis Demo, World in Conflict, Lord of the Rings Online, and some older games as well. I targeted these because in all of these games except WIC and COD4 I experience lag sometimes and only in these games. I believe lighting effects from dx10 are a big issue. When I turn off dx10 I instantly get good fps. Now, granted...I get playable fps in all these, but sometimes I get too much lag. In my opinion, a system like mine should never lag. I know the Crysis demo is outdated, but I still want better fps in all these games. I thought about getting a 10000rpm hd and pc8500 1066mhz ram, but I want to hear what you guys think might be the problem. I have standard nvidia 169.25 drivers(I had nvlddmkm error before but I replaced video card and problem seems to have gone away...haven't gotten the error since I replaced it.) and perhaps I need new drivers? I just don't know, but I want an average fps higher than about 22. Last thing, the cpu can't go any higher than that with my mobo. I know theres a thread on this mobo and cpu specifically, but it requires reflashing bios on it and I don't have a floppy drive or usb flashdrive, and id rather not have to do this in case it messes up.

Any suggestions? Or anything Im missing in specs or description please tell me
Thanks, Tobysauce

Yeah go ahead and update drivers it might help not too sure though. A faster hard drive and faster ram won't really give fps boost especially if you have a 1:1 FSB to dram ration.

You have overclocked a 2.4Ghz chip to 2.64... You go steady

Try changing drivers.

Overclock the Quad to 3.6Ghz (easily done) and get the latest drivers from Nvidia. Have you also installed the chipset drivers etc?

Not all quads can hit 3.6....

And just get the latest official WHQL drivers from Nvidia's site.
